Children's Church during the Sermon

THE METHODIST MESSENGER

Making disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately,

love extravagantly, and witness boldly.

Christ is Risen!

Our Easter celebrations were simply marvelous! The Sunrise service at the Tinkle’s home was attended by 52 people. It was a joyous celebration on a cloudy but beautiful morning.

This was the first time in a number of years we have had a sunrise service, I’m looking forward to the continuation of this tradition. It was so very worth getting up extra early, even on a cloudy day!

Our 10AM worship service was well attended, and I loved all the special music with our guest musicians combining their talents with our musicians and choir. We celebrated Jesus’ resurrection in style as we worshiped together.

I want to say a special thank you to everyone who helped First Methodist have a meaningful Lenten season, culminating with a particularly joyous Easter morning. So many people did so much and when you bring it all together, it was a beautiful offering of love presented to our Lord. Well done church!

The Sprit of God is moving at First Methodist and it is an amazing thing. May the season of Spring remind us that God is growing us as individuals and as a church. Our faith is a beautiful thing. Beautiful things are meant to be shared. First Methodist Church is our home for our faith and is meant to be shared with our community. I encourage you to invite those you know to come and experience the grace and joy of Jesus Christ as we continue to celebrate the beauty of our faith together.  Christ is Risen Indeed!   See ya Sunday!

Blessings,

Pastor Malcolm

"Just as Christ was raised from the dead...even so we also should walk in newness of life." Romans 6:4 NKJV; "God has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil, or fade--kept in heaven for you." I Peter 1:3-4

These were part of my scripture reading this morning. What an amazing lesson! When Adam and Eve sinned and were banished from the garden, our loving and gracious Heavenly Father had formulated a plan not only for them, but for generations to come. The very first moment we put our trust in Christ as our Savior, the Holy Spirit begins the transformation of our lives from death in sin, to eternal life. It is an inheritance, not like our earthly inheritance, that will never perish, spoil, or fade away. And that is only the beginning of the work the Holy Spirit does as we "put on the new self". Is it an easy journey? No. Very often we find ourselves in circumstances that test us to the very core of our being. But, is it worth it? Absolutely! As we grow in God's grace, provided by the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, we continue in our journey toward eternal life in heaven. Jesus arose, conquered death, and gave those who follow Him the hope of that new life! Heavenly Father, we lift up our hearts in praise to You for providing a way for us, your wayward children, to live with You forever in heaven. As we journey, even if we should stumble, we know that You will be there to pick us up and carry us through the sometimes difficult path. Help us to be a beacon to those who question Your authority, demonstrating that even in our imperfect ways, You are still in control and

on the throne. Forgive us when we falter in our faith, and strengthen us with Your perfect joy, encouragement and hope for eternal life. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
