Join us for a collaboration between the High Falls Food Co-op, the Rosendale Theatre, and other local organizations as we bring you three great films about our food system. Local experts will present ideas, facts, and reflections after each film to help us digest the information, and how you can get involved.

The series will consist of three dynamic, important films about different aspects of our world's food system.

Raising HOPE (Help, Opportunity, Passion, Empowerment) is a free women’s mentoring program United Way created in response to a community need. Mentors help Mentees develop and achieve educational, entrepreneurial or career goals to become financially stable and self-sufficient. Our experience has proven that having a mentor to guide, advise, and encourage is a powerful instrument of change.

New Year, New Beginnings! As you're tidying up after the holiday festivities, remember that your gently used items can make a big difference! At People's Place in Kingston, NY, we welcome your donations with open arms.

Transform your post-holiday cleanout into an act of kindness. Bring your pre-loved clothes, household items, and more to our Thrift Store. Your contributions support our mission to uplift the community through our Food Pantry and Community Cafe.

People who choose to volunteer with Ulster Literacy find an opportunity to engage in an immensely helpful and satisfying endeavor. Our tutors, like our learners, come from a variety of backgrounds and have many reasons for joining us. They all want to help others!

No teaching experience is necessary. If you are interested in sharing your love of reading and writing with an eager and motivated learner, then we can use your help.

UIDN’s mission: To provide a network of safety and support to immigrants, regardless of status. Some of our volunteer work is project-based and can be done at your convenience. Other tasks need to be done in person or on a regular schedule. Critical needs include:

• Drivers to transport people to important legal and medical appointments, and to drive members of UIDN’s new workers’ co-op, Blooming Queens of Clean, to and from jobs that cannot be reached by public transportation.
• Bilingual helpline volunteers (Spanish/English) to work remotely or in shifts at our Kingston office. After an orientation, volunteers provide assistance and referrals by phone, choosing their own hours. Must have access to a phone and computer. Minimum commitment: two hours a week for at least 10 weeks.
• Volunteers with trucks or vans to pick up and deliver food and furniture.

Ulster County Office for the Aging seeks volunteers in the following areas:

• Warm Callers – folks who are willing to call isolated seniors regularly so they hear a friendly voice, have someone to speak to
• Volunteer drivers for our Neighbor to Neighbor Medical appt driving program
• Help at various pantries like Angel Food East, People’s Place, Rondout Valley Food Pantry
• Drivers for those pantries, maybe cooks
• Caregiver respite
• Help at area nursing home for transporting, activities, companionship
• Volunteers willing to be trained to be ombudsmen in nursing homes
• Volunteers willing to assist as shoppers or with grocery pickup, chore doers, light maintenance volunteers for area seniors
• Coaches for evidence-based programming which help folks learn to live more safely and wholly

CURRENTLY AVAILABLE OPPORTUNITIES:

The REST Program trains select volunteers to be companions and then matches companions to mutually suitable seniors. Companions are supported throughout their journey by the REST Program Coordinator.

In addition, the REST Program will partner with any community based organization or congregation already doing this work who is interested in additional training and support for their volunteers.

NEW OPTION #1:

Be trained as a Volunteer facilitator or presenter at a weekly event at the HUB for seniors who are care recipients at the Hub. We envision creating a warm and welcoming space where people could share their talents and their stories with our care recipient seniors.
