Denim Day: 25 Years of Impact


The Denim Day campaign hopes to bring awareness to victim-blaming and destructive myths that surround rape and sexual violence. Join millions across the world by making a statement with your fashion. This Wednesday, April 26th, wear jeans with a purpose! Grab your denim and gear up - post a picture on the Coastline App or Instagram and tag @coastline_oc with the hashtags #myjeansprotestviolence and #denimday!

Meet up with your fellow denim-clad dolphins in the front lobby of the Fountain Valley Student Services Center at 12:00pm for a group photo op to show how Coastline stands in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence. Students, staff, and faculty are all welcome and encouraged to join!

Our editors seek submissions for the Fall 2024 issue of StoryLine, Coastline's Online "Arts and Letters" Magazine!


What to Submit: 

  • Art (drawings, paintings, graphic designs): scan and send in high-res .jpg format
  • Photography: send up to 5 images in high-res .jpg format
  • Poetry: send up to 5 poems in one Word document (.docx or .doc)
  • Essays: 1,500 words maximum as a Word document (.docx or .doc)
  • Short stories: 1,500 words maximum as a Word document (.docx or .doc)
  • Digital stories: send a link to a YouTube video (must be correctly captioned)


Submit your work by filling out our Submission Form. The deadline for all submissions is July 1, 2024.

CCC LGBTQ+ Virtual Summit: Rise, Resist, Empower

Join and collaborate with members of the California Community Colleges at all levels! The summit is a space for students, faculty, classified professionals, and administrators where we will focus on this year’s theme: “The Unstoppable Movement for Queer & Trans Liberation” and on improving not only individual community college campuses but encouraging changes at the structural level as well. We will learn from each other’s innovative and successful ideas that will transform campuses so that we better serve and affirm LGBTQ+ students. This is a FREE event with limited capacity. Spring 2024 Queer Prom

Join us as we come together to sashay on the dance floor! Music, a light show, a photo booth, and snacks will be provided. A safe space for those who would like to add final touches to their outfits, fabulous hair, and make-up will be provided from 4:30-6pm at the Global Engagement Center at OCC. Gender-affirming prom attire will also be available while supplies last. All students are welcome to register a plus-one guest!

Test Your Knowledge in the 2024 Healthcare Academic Triathlon!

Join us for an exciting trivia competition that will test your knowledge of anatomy/physiology, chemistry, and microbiology! Coastline College's Biological Sciences & Allied Health Department is hosting the 2024 Health Sciences Academic Triathlon on Friday, May 3rd. Participate yourself or come cheer on your fellow students, all while getting in some finals review in a fun way! Participants must be enrolled at Coastline during the 2023-24 academic year. Students can sign up to compete either as a 3-person team or as an individual. (Individuals will be placed with other students to make a 3-person team.) The deadline to register is Friday, April 29th. All competitors will receive a clear Health Science Triathlon tote bag for participating, along with a certificate of achievement. Prizes will also be awarded to the top 3 teams! Register today!

Earth Day 2024: Ride Free for a Cleaner Earth!

Coastline students, family, and friends - help reduce pollution and traffic this Earth Day, April 22 with FREE OCTA rides all day! A journey on any of OCTA's fixed-route buses is great for you and the planet. You get a free ride and Orange County breathes a little easier. The OC Bus fleet runs on clean, renewable energy and is headed toward a 100 percent zero-emission future to bring even cleaner air quality to Orange County. Please join us for the first-ever Coast Community College District (CCCD) Lavender Graduation on Friday, May 10th! Lavender Graduation is a celebration to honor and acknowledge the achievements and contributions of our LGBTQIA+-identifying graduates. Guests are welcome. Please RSVP to reserve your spot at the Spring 2024 Lavender Graduation Ceremony. Graduates from Coastline, Golden West, and Orange Coast Colleges who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community will be honored at the event. Refreshments will be served. Wondering "why lavender?" Join us for an Umoja/Black student graduation celebration! Are you graduating or transferring this semester? If so, we would like to celebrate you and all of your success! The Coast Community College District will be hosting its 2nd Black Graduation Celebration! Join us as we celebrate the success of our African and Black/African American students in the Coast District.
