BCCSA presents two free events you should not miss

Construction employers recognize the gap between the needs of workers facing substance use and mental health issues and the ability of the healthcare system to address them. Learn how the construction industry is rising to meet the challenge by embracing the concept of Recovery Informed Workplaces — work environments that destigmatize these health issues and support a journey of recovery — at a free breakfast event on June 13th.

Dr. Paul Farnan of the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University will share research insights into the importance of fostering inclusive environments that support the journey of recovery, and the ways in which workplaces can become catalysts for positive change and healing. Ian Robb, Chairman, Building Trades of Alberta (BTA) highlights the success of the BTA’s unique Building Resiliency Program, which offers new options for workers and their families to reclaim a positive pathway as it addresses mental health, addiction, and dependency challenges with workplace support. Register now for this important event, which will be held at the Trev Deeley Conference Centre in Vancouver.

The Alliance would also like to invite all employers and employees to the BCCSA’s Eat & Greet Prince George on Wednesday, June 19th for a catered evening event. Meet and interact with the BCCSA's executive team, regional safety advisors, board of directors and each other. This is an excellent opportunity to speak to industry leaders and colleagues on emerging issues and suggest how we at the Alliance can serve and assist you better. Register here for free and watch this space for future BCCSA Eat & Greets in your area.

VRCA Construction Leadership Forum
Thanks to the VRCA Construction Leadership Forum for a special welcome as the BCCSA was invited to introduce a session for this signature annual event.

Summer reminder
Comedian George Carlin would probably have fun with the word “hydration” — the terminology we started using after water hired a publicity agent. No matter what you call it, hydration is still about consuming enough fluids containing H2O molecules to support your body when the weather is dry or hot. That weather is coming — support your body.

BCCSA at the VRCA Construction Leadership Forum
Throwback to an unforgettable time at the VRCA Construction Leadership Forum! We had a phenomenal experience participating as a Safety Sponsor, engaging with industry peers, and introducing and diving into invaluable insights shared by expert speakers.

The Fairmont Chateau Whistler provided a stunning backdrop for enriching discussions and a lineup of dynamic presentations. We're already looking forward to next year's event and the chance to build on the valuable connections we made.
