BWIM DOCUMENTARY SCREENING

On October 2, 2023, Midwives of a Movement had its premiere at the 40th Anniversary Annual Gathering of Baptist Women in Ministry in Louisville, KY. This captivating documentary delves into the courageous tales of women who spearheaded a movement aimed at amplifying the presence and opportunities for women within the Southern Baptist Convention. Despite encountering formidable opposition, their bravery forged paths toward the advancement of women in both ministry and leadership roles among Baptists. However, the struggle against religious and, more specifically, Baptist patriarchy remains as pertinent today as it was four decades ago. Through this film, audiences will encounter poignant narratives, profound reflections, and light-hearted recollections that serve as a rallying cry for ongoing efforts to challenge patriarchy and advocate for equality and fairness for women within Baptist circles. Join our church and other CBFNC congregations on Saturday, April 13, at 5pm at Greystone Baptist Church for a screening. The film is 78 minutes long, and will be followed by a Q&A with Executive Director, Dr. Meredith Stone.

SISTER SHARE

Established by founder Regelyn “Reggie” Edwards in 2008, The Encouraging Place stands as a beacon for churches seeking guidance on Biblical reconciliation and endeavoring to mend racial divides within their communities. Through their services, they aid organizations in navigating the complexities of racism by emphasizing historical, cultural, structural, and institutional analysis. Their annual conferences and forums serve as vital platforms for dismantling racism. At its core, The Encouraging Place is committed to fostering racial healing, empowering women through communal support, and addressing the needs of our neighbors. Sister Share is a group of women who meet monthly to hear about a variety of topics and share together in conversation and a meal. We're looking forward to hosting Sister Share in our fellowship hall on Saturday, April 13, at 10am. Women from our congregation are invited to join in for a morning of connection, conversation, and fellowship!

VOTE TO ADOPT BY-LAW AMENDMENT

On February 28, the trustees presented a first reading of a proposed amendment to the by-laws changing the necessity of a yearly financial audit.  The vote on whether to adopt the by-law amendment will be at the April 24 church conference. You may see the proposed amendment, and the rationale for the amendment, near the top of the members-only section of the church website. Copies are also available in the church office.

NEW WIFI NETWORK

Due to the high use of the WiFi at the church, we have established a guest WiFi network. Please use FBC-MG when at the church. The password is "biography." This network refreshes each day so we will not clog up the network with users, many of which are connected only one time. Last fall, we were unable to connect any new devices to the FBC network due to the high number of users being retained by the network. We refreshed the network but do not want to clog it up again. The FBC network will soon have a new password that will be used only by staff.  Thanks for shifting to the use of FBC-MG. You will need to sign in upon each use.
