ANNUAL FUND UPDATE - WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Donate to the Mills Annual Fund

Since the pandemic, we have not hit our annual fund goal these last few years and the reality is that without these funds, our students could lose vital resources. To date, we have only hit 36% of our Annual Fund goal of $100,000. We desperately need every financially-able family and all our local businesses/organizations to give what they can so we can hit our goal. WE NEED TO GET TO $100K BY MARCH 2025 OR CRITICAL ROLES AND PROGRAMS WILL BE AT STAKE.

Although we have a financially healthy school district, its annual operating budget allocation for Mills High School does not fully cover the costs of all that Mills High School needs each year. The Mills Annual Fund was created to bridge that funding gap.

The Annual Fund supports a wide variety of school needs including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Supplement our counseling department so we can continue to deliver the best possible supports for students throughout every year of high school
  • STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) - supplement resources, laboratory materials, and equipment in order to maintain a rigorous and enhanced STEM program for all students
  • Teacher education so our teachers can stay on the cutting edge in each subject area
  • Class materials that provide for engaging and well-resourced learning spaces
  • Support of Student clubs and activities so our students can try new activities, follow a passion, and/or learn how to become leaders
  • Technology Upgrades like high definition learning delivery systems in the classroom used daily by teachers to enhance student engagement, teaching and learning

How our Mills Community can help:

  • If you are able to make a donation, please do. Although we are asking for a minimum donation of $500 from each family, we will take any amount.
  • If you have a corporate match at work - apply that! It will go towards your total contribution.
  • Donate to “Vikings-Parent Group,” Tax ID 94-2353182.
  • In the donation notes, please include your student's full name and grade so it will apply to them.
  • If you can or cannot donate, you can share the donation link with family and friends: https://millsannualfund.dojiggy.io/supportmills/Campaign/Details and make sure they apply it to your student!
  • If you have a small business or know someone who does, ask them to be a sponsor.

How you can make a donation:

  • Make the check payable to Vikings-Parents Group
  • Add your student’s first and last name in the memo line

Counselors' Connection

Scheduling Courses for 2025-26

In the coming weeks, school counselors will teach 9th to 11th graders about graduation and college requirements, as well as help them register for next year's courses. In March, students will have opportunities to meet with their counselor to ask questions and revise as needed. In the meantime, parents are encouraged to review their students' course requests together.

ACADEMIC PLANNING EVENING - Save the date!

The Mills Counselors invite ALL 9th, 10th & 11th GRADE PARENTS to attend our Academic Planning Workshop on Thursday, Feb. 27th at 7PM in the Mills Auditorium. Parents will receive critical information on the course selection process, preparing for college, SAT/ACT updates, and much more. Don't miss out!

We are happy to share that our Senior Grad Nite will be at Disneyland (Park Hopper) on Friday 5/30/2025. Disneyland was the #1 option chosen by the majority of the students. We have a limited offering from Disneyland of 75 tickets for students only! View more information and sign up here.

Career Panels in March - HELP NEEDED

The College & Career Center at Mills High School is excited to host it's very first Voices of Valhalla, a series of panels focused on different industries where panelists come and speak to students about their career, path to said career, and important skills students can work on now. Our goal with this event is not only to provide students with access to people they otherwise would never have spoken to, but also to widen the lenses for students who aren't sure about what they want to pursue. We are hoping to fill our panels with parents/guardians of current/past Mills students, meaning we'd love to have YOU come and speak on our panels!

The panels will take place on each Wednesday in March, from 10:00am-11am. We will be holding the events in person in the College & Career Center at Mills High School. We understand that success can stem from varying education levels and pathways, and welcome everyone to apply to be on a panel. You would be part of a 3-5 person panel, with Mills staff (and hopefully students) asking questions about your job, your educational pathway, and other relevant topics.

Since this is the inaugural series, industries we focus on will be limited. Pending the success of this year's panels, we are hoping to expand on the industries we host. If you are interested in being part of a panel, we’d love to have you! Please fill out this Google Form, and we will be in touch to confirm your attendance and share the questions + additional info with you.

If your occupation does not align with any of the panels we offer but you'd like to be in contact for future panels, please fill out the form so we can better plan for next year! Additionally, if you are willing to serve as a contact/resource for your occupation, please let us know!
