Combined Sunday School on Transgenderism

Sunday, April 21

Western culture is currently undergoing deep transformation in how people view sexuality and personal identity. Rather than seeing sexuality as a gift to be received from one’s Creator, it is increasingly understood as determined by the individual—even down to remaking bodies to align with a sense of sexual identity. This cultural change has brought unprecedented challenges to the Church as she seeks to bear witness to God’s Word on what it means to be human, and as she seeks to minister in a deeply confused culture.

This all-church mini-series taught by professors from Reformed Theological Seminary will equip Christians to understand what Scripture teaches on issues related to transgenderism, how we got to this cultural moment, and how Christians might wisely and compassionately minister to others on this issue. All adults and youth are welcome to attend. Sunday School begins at 9:00 am in the sanctuary.

Sunday School Recordings

Recordings of the Sunday School classes on transgenderism can be found at https://christcovenant.org/sunday-school/ and on our YouTube channel.

Meet Keith Evans

Keith Evans is teaching our combined Sunday School this Sunday, April 21. Keith Evans is Assistant Professor of Christian Counseling at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina. Previously, he was professor of biblical counseling, director of the Biblical Counseling Institute, and academic dean at the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Prior to beginning at RPTS in 2018, Keith pastored in Lafayette, Indiana, for seven years. He is married to Melissa, and they have four daughters. Currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. in biblical counseling at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

Congregational Monthly Day of Prayer

Tuesday, April 23

All are invited to participate in the Monthly Day of Prayer on Tuesday, April 23. There are two ways you can participate. One is to come in-person for your prayer time to the Covenant Day School Conference Room located in the A Building (this room is located next to the church’s main office) anytime between 7:30 am – 7:00 pm. Prayer guides are provided. Another option is to pick a time slot and pray where you are, whether that’s at home or at work. The day is divided into 30-minute segments for individuals to sign up and pray for supported workers and for the needs of our congregation. You can select the time that best fits your schedule by clicking here. We also hope you will take time to submit your confidential prayer requests online either by clicking here or by email at prayer@christcovenant.org.

Women's Ministry Spring Brunch

Thursday, April 25

Our 2024 Spring Brunch is on Thursday, April 25, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, in the Community Life Center. Please RSVP by April 22 by clicking here.

Bring a salad or dessert to share and join us for brunch! Let us know what you plan to bring in the RSVP link above. We’ll hear from a panel of ladies on how to engage in hospitality during all life stages, enjoy fellowship, and celebrate the work of the Lord in us and through us.

Plan to bring a favorite family recipe to the brunch. We will be compiling them into a recipe book that will be available for purchase later in the year as a fundraiser for our local ministry partners!

We have a very limited number of spots still available in select childcare rooms. Please contact Stephanie Bennett to confirm if space is still available for your child(ren) at sbennett@christcovenant.org.

Monthly Prayer for our Nation

Sunday, April 28

All are invited to join us once a month for a time of prayer focused on our nation. Throughout Scripture, we read of God’s people calling out to him for help, guidance, and direction for its leaders and land. In this election year it seems right to gather, not for politics, but prayer. Would you join us on Sunday, April 28, from 5:00 pm – 5:40 pm, in the youth center/lower Community Life Center, as we gather to call on God’s name?

Men's Fellowship Breakfast

Saturday, May 4

All men and sons ages 12 years and older are invited to the Men’s Fellowship Breakfast on Saturday, May 4, from 8:00 am – 9:00 am, in the Community Life Center. A buffet breakfast will be served followed by a speaker and then table discussion. Please bring $10 in either cash or check to help with the cost of the breakfast buffet. If you have any questions, please email questions to Amy Van Dusen at avandusen@christcovenant.org.

Let us know you are coming by RSVPing by clicking here. Please RSVP by Friday, April 26.

Ascension Concert

Sunday Evening, May 5

On Sunday evening, May 5, at 6:00 pm, it will be our joy to honor Jesus Christ as the ascended King and to give thanks for the gift of the Spirit. We hope everyone will invite a friend and then join us for an evening of praise and worship, sacred music, spirituals, and more.

O Night

Tuesday, May 7

Everyone is invited to join us on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month for Christ Covenant Outreach Nights, called O Nights. Our next one is Tuesday, May 7, from 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm. We will meet in the south lobby of the worship center. We will have some time of training to equip our people, and then we will go out in groups into the community to do surveys and to share the gospel. If you do not feel comfortable walking, we would love for you to participate by praying on our campus. Please bring your small group, family, etc. and join us! If you have any questions, contact Amy Van Dusen at avandusen@christcovenant.org.

Can You Help A New Afghan Family in Need?

A new Afghan family has arrived in our area and is in need of our help. This family is a dad, mom, and three young girls ages 5, 7 and 10, who crossed the Mexican border just a few weeks ago. The trek was very difficult as they worked their way across Mexico. The family arrived in the Charlotte area with only what they could carry in their backpacks and were immediately sent to a homeless shelter in San Diego, California. A man with a generous heart agreed to pay for their plane tickets to get here to the Charlotte area.

The dad worked with the United States military for 17 years interpreting and supporting our troops. A sister PCA church is providing housing for this family. We have been asked to help with their food needs by providing Wal-Mart gift cards. If you would like to and are able to help, please place your Wal-Mart gift card in the secure black mailbox at the Outreach and Mission house or hand them to Amy VanDusen. If you have any questions, please contact Amy at avandusen@christcovenant.org

Children's Sunday School Spotlight

During Sunday School this morning, all our children from two years-old to fifth grade are learning God cares for boys and girls from The Biggest Story Bible Storybook curriculum, from the lesson “The Daughters of Zelophehad” in Numbers 27 and 36. If you sit near a family with young children, please take a moment to ask the children to share what they learned in Sunday School with you!
