VBS: Sneak Peek Sunday!

Our annual Vacation Bible School is from Sunday, July 7, to Thursday, July 11, from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. We've been working hard with planning and preparation for VBS week and would love for you to see some of what we have planned this summer!

Join us this Sunday, April 21, in the Atrium for Sneak Peek Sunday! This will be a great way for your kids to see what this year's VBS is all about and showcase our available volunteer opportunities.

Volunteer for VBS

The number of kids we can host for our annual Vacation Bible School depends entirely on the number of volunteers we have for VBS week—this is why VBS volunteers are so important!

If you can volunteer for all of VBS week, or only a day or two, we would love your help! More information about our volunteer opportunities will be available at our Sneak Peek Sunday, or you can visit our VBS website, exploreVBS.com for an overview of positions.

P.S. Child registration for VBS will begin this Sunday!

Baby Dedication Celebration

Join us for our Baby Dedication Brunch on Saturday, May 11 and/or participate in our Baby Dedication Slideshow on Mother’s Day, May 12!!

Our annual Baby Dedication gives participating families an opportunity to publicly commit to raising their children to know and love Jesus. WCC is honored to partner with families on this journey, and we want to be a consistent source of encouragement, strength, and resources as you raise your child to have a personal relationship with Jesus.

On Saturday, May 11, from 10:00 AM to Noon, we will have a Brunch and Baby Dedication. During the dedication, we will hear a devotional from Carrie Wiley, watch a slideshow of your little ones, and then parents will commit to raising their children in the Lord.

If your family would like to join us for brunch AND/OR participate in the Baby Dedication Slideshow, please register and let us know which event you plan to attend. Also, please answer the questions to help us prepare for this special day.

When you’re done, we would appreciate it if you would upload a photo of your little one so we can use it to help create a slideshow for the day.

Register now!

This event is for families with children (2 years and younger) who have never participated in a Baby Dedication.

Old Testament Women: Used By God

Ladies, we're kicking off a four-week Bible study beginning Tuesday, April 23, and Thursday, April 25.

Leah, Eve, Rahab, and Abigail -- four women of the Old Testament with powerful stories and life lessons we can still learn from today. Join us as we examine these women's lives and choices in depth, gain insight from God’s Word, and explore the amazing ways God used them. Even though Jesus had not come into the world just yet, the promise of a Savior was firmly rooted in their hearts.

This four-week study will be available at three different times.

DATES & TIMES:

NOTE: There is no cost for this study. Childcare is available for the Thursday AM study only.

Volunteers Needed: Sunday Morning Greeters

Do you like meeting new people? If so, we have a service opportunity for you!

We are in need of greeters to serve on a one Sunday per month rotation for the 8:30, 9:45, and 11:11 AM services. The work is simple! Greeters are assigned doors and need to be ready to start greeting at least 15 minutes before service starts and continue greeting for approximately 10 minutes once the service begins. Then, when the service concludes, they need to return to their assigned doors to say goodbye as folks leave.

Training will be provided. Please contact Alison Morrow with questions or interest.

Our next Blood Drive is Monday, May 6

Ever wonder why the Red Cross always faces a critical shortage of blood? Out of the millions of Americans who are eligible to donate blood, only 3% do.

Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages: accident & burn victims, heart surgery & organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. Every TWO SECONDS, someone in the U.S. needs blood.

Be one of the 3%. Participate in our blood drive on Monday, May 6 from Noon to 6:00 PM.

Schedule your donation!

If you are not able to donate with us during our next Blood Drive, we encourage you to visit the Red Cross website to find a date, time & location that works best for you.

Lunch at Der Dutchman

The Senior Adult Ministry invites you to lunch at Der Dutchman on Tuesday, May 7 at 11:00 AM. We will meet at Der Dutchman in Plain City for a devotional and lunch.

Please RSVP so we know how many to expect. Participants are responsible for purchasing their own meals, and transportation is not provided.

Impact Partnership Spotlight: Worthington Resource Pantry

We have supported the Worthington Resource Pantry since the COVID lockdown in March 2020. Since then, we have provided our community with (literally) tons of non-perishable food and personal hygiene items.

We will continue to support the WRP for the foreseeable future, but the pantry has needs beyond supplying them with canned food, pasta, and toiletries -- they are always in need of volunteers, too.

WCC member Chris Mossgrove has been volunteering at the Worthington Resource Pantry since she retired four years ago. When she first walked into the building, she fell in love with the atmosphere.

"Everyone there is all about serving our neighbors, and that is what I love when I am there," she told us. "My passion is for the babies and pets, and I make sure our shelves are always stocked with diapers and pet food so that on pick-up day, our families have access to both. I can't think of anywhere else I would rather volunteer!"

"Love your neighbor" is one of our greatest commandments, and one way we can do that is by helping to provide for those in need. We hope you will consider volunteering at the Worthington Resource Pantry. If you want to learn more, please contact Chris Mossgrove or visit the Worthington Resource Pantry website to complete a volunteer application.

REACH Phase 2: Worship in the Youth Center

Phase 2 of the REACH Initiative is off to a strong start! In the last few days, a lot of work has been done in the Worship Center as we prep the room for HVAC and A/V technology upgrades. Once that is complete, the stage can be rebuilt, new flooring can be installed, and walls can be painted. Then, the new seating can go in.

We anticipate that Phase 2 will be complete by August 2024.

Our social media accounts — Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter/X — will post regular updates about the progress of Phase 2. Please be sure to subscribe or follow to stay up-to-date!

We'll take your empty print cartridges!

Did you know that we collect empty brand-name print cartridges? We do! We donate all empty print cartridges from HP, Brother, Canon, Epson, etc. for a discount on office supplies.

If you have any empty print cartridges, please consider dropping them off at the church office!
