Like it Forward - We Don't Waste

CHFA recently donated $8,060 to We Don’t Waste, a Denver nonprofit working to increase food access and protect the planet by rescuing and repurposing food, while educating and advocating to increase food security and decrease food waste. The donation was the result of Like It Forward, CHFA’s annual social media campaign to benefit Colorado nonprofits whose work aligns with CHFA’s mission to invest in affordable housing and community development.

Consistent access to fresh, healthy food is a foundational element of economic stability and prosperity. According to Colorado Health Institute, an estimated 11 percent of Coloradans lack access to nutritious food. Meanwhile, as much as 40 percent of food in the United States goes unsold or uneaten, according to the USDA. You can find out how to access healthy, nutritious food through We Don’t Waste’s Mobile Food Markets here.
