Exploring Intersections with Bryan Parris: Reflections on the Symposium for Racial Discrimination and Environmental Justice

Mr. Bryan Parris participated in a symposium commemorating the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and the International Day of Forests. The event, which took place both in Cuk-Son (Tucson), Arizona, and online, attracted over 500 attendees. Held on Thursday, March 21st and Friday, March 22nd, the two-day symposium delved into the intersections of racism, colonialism, and conservation. It advocated for an environmental justice movement grounded in Indigenous Peoples' Human Rights.

Distinguished international speakers graced the event, including the Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Jose Francisco Calí Tzay, and John Knox, the former Independent Expert on Human Rights Obligations Relating to the Enjoyment of a Safe, Clean, Healthy, and Sustainable Environment.
