 Hello SSR families! The Spring Carnival is just around the corner and planning is well underway! Last year's addition of an amazon wish list was a great way to have SSR families be able to donate and contribute some of our bigger prizes! You can either drop off donations to the front of the school, the drop box is located just outside of the front office or they can be sent to the volunteer's house. Here is the link! Have items at home that are new or in great condition and would rather see them be put to good use? Please feel free to donate any items from home!

Dear Sunset Ridge Families, 

Welcome back from Spring Break! I've heard some great stories from kids already, and hope your time was enjoyable :-)

We're entering the final sprint of the school year now. There are 10 weeks left, and they are sure to go by fast (and be full of all kinds of fun like the Spring Carnival on April 12th from 5:30pm - 8:30pm).  Here is the PTA website if you're interested in seeing other events or, better yet, volunteering so we can keep them going!  

This is a time of some changes. Diane Masnica is retiring at the end of this year, which means we'll be losing an excellent and talented veteran teacher. Abby Ruesink resigned earlier this year, which was also a great loss, and that leaves us with two vacant positions. Because of declining enrollment across the district, several teachers were determined to be in surplus at their schools, so it is looking like some of them will transfer to Sunset Ridge. We look forward to meeting them and learning about them!  

This is a time of year of reflecting, including through the various surveys (like the Family Engagement Survey which you were sent). That is one way for us to solicit feedback about how we're doing. I want to personally invite any of you to share any perspectives, good or bad, with me personally. While I can't guarantee that we'll agree, or that I can fix a concern that might exist, I do value the openness of communication.  

And this is a time of year of planning. In May, we'll be planning for class placement for next year. As always, families will have the opportunity to provide input. We try to incorporate family perspectives while placing students in classrooms where we believe they'll succeed, but it's an imperfect science. We appreciate your trust in the teachers' decisions and understanding of the myriad complex circumstances which surround these decisions.  

We're looking forward to a great end of the year!

Who: All families are welcome! We will be asking for a suggested donation of $20 family to fundraise for a new upper playground

What: Featuring none other than "The N'achos" (yay Mr. Wilfrid). we are also working on getting Food Trucks at the event that will donate a portion back to our Fundraiser

Where: Sunset Ridge Back Area Playground/ Lawn. Bring your chairs and blankets!
