ICYMI: Intel receives CHIPS and Science Act funding award; President Biden visits Chandler to make the announcement

Last week, President Joe Biden visited Chandler to announce the U.S. Department of Commerce and Intel Corporation have reached terms on $8.5 billion in direct federal funding under the CHIPS and Science Act. The direct funding, coupled with anticipated investment tax credits and CHIPS Act loans, will support Intel projects to expand fab capacity and capabilities in Chandler, New Mexico, Oregon and Ohio.

In Chandler, Intel is investing more than $32 billion to build two new leading-edge chip factories and modernize an existing fab at its Ocotillo campus that will produce the world's most advanced logic chips. Intel currently has 12,000 workers based in Chandler and will add another 3,000 workers once the new fabs are operational.
