We're welcoming spring here at the Folk School with new workshops and looking ahead to summer programs, too.


Finnish American artist Heather Allen Hietala will be in Hancock next month, opening her exhibition Evolution at the Finlandia Art Gallery and teaching two workshop for us: Introduction to Contemporary Embroidery and Stitching & Textile Techniques in Wire. Registration for those workshops is set to close Monday March 25, so sign up now if you're interested!

The Finnish American Folk School and all of our colleagues at the Finnish American Heritage Center are delighted to be hosting the Finlandia Foundation National's Board of Trustees and guests right here in Hancock April 11-13. As part of this visit, you're invited to join us for some exciting public events, including the official Re-Opening Ceremony of the FAHC and an opportunity to hear from FFN Lecturer of the Year, Hanna Pylväinen, author of The End of Drum-Time. FFN Board Members, guests, and community members will have a chance to gather and talk. Finnish pastries and coffee will be provided by the local Nisu Bakery.


Re-Opening Ceremony of the Finnish American Heritage Center - Friday, April 12, 1:30-2:45pm

Finnish American Heritage Center

Gather outside the building for a ribbon cutting ceremony and re-opening of the Finnish American Heritage Center. You will hear speeches, enjoy performances, and take part in the flag raising and ribbon cutting by FFN.
