“Jesus said to him," I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me,”

Jesus – Our Living Water

I found Pastor David’s study of the Hebrew word amet, meaning truth, absolutely fascinating. It proves once again that there is so much information in the Bible that we can read it many times and still find brilliant new revelations.

The word is made up of three letters: aleph the first letter in the alphabet meaning God, men the 13th letter meaning flowing waters, and tav, the last letter meaning perfection. This gives us a picture of Jesus. The first and the last, our living water, perfection, God, and truth.

How amazing is that word. God is truth. Jesus is truth. Yet it goes further. Emet is truth. Met is death. Without God we can have water and perfection and yet not have life. It is only with and through God that we can have life. A good person will still die, but a thief on a cross who recognizes who Jesus is will have life.

I read that in the Torah in Genesis 1:1 is a word, though it is not really a word as it has no meaning unto itself. That “word” is two letters, the aleph, and the tav; the first and last, God and perfection. Scholars believe it was there as a picture and it was there at the beginning of the creation story.

It was Eden until man messed it up. Then Jesus on the cross “When Jesus had received the wine, he said, “It is finished.” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit,” John 19:30 NRSV. The scripture has been fulfilled. The law does not bind us in our transgressions. Jesus has fulfilled the law. Praise God.
