Leadership

Honoring the passing of a nurse leader in Congress

ANAC acknowledges the passing of Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson on Dec. 31, 2023. She was the first nurse elected to Congress, representing Texas's 30th congressional district from 1993 to 2022. Early in her career, she served as Chief Psychiatric Nurse at the VA Hospital in Dallas. In Congress, she broke many gender and racial barriers, including serving as Chair of the U.S. House Committee on Science, Space and Technology, overseeing NASA and advocating for S.T.E.M. education and policies. We celebrate her life as a nurse, science leader, advocate and influential elected official.

ANAC BOD member message: Join Peter Oates and Show YOUR Love to ANAC This Year

Happy February, ANAC community! As I reflect on Carole Treston's heartfelt message encouraging us to set up monthly donations for ANAC's crucial work, I'm reminded of the power of consistent support. Thinking about my own journey, transitioning from periodic giving to monthly contributions, making a regular giving commitment fills me with a sense of peace, knowing that I am playing a part in advancing the organization's mission. Now, as a new board member, I am honored to continue this journey, extending my support through both monthly and one-time donations. I invite you all to join me in showing some love to ANAC by partnering with us financially throughout 2024! Let's make this year remarkable for our organization; there is still a lot of work to be done.
