Grade Eight Visits Nation's Capital

Students in grade eight had an eventful trip to Washington D.C. over the weekend.

The group was able to visit the Capitol building, take a monument walking tour, including a stop at the Lincoln, World War II, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Washington Memorials. They also toured the International Spy Museum, the National Zoo, the Holocaust Museum, the National Archives, the Basilica of the National Shrine, Arlington National Cemetery, the White House, the Smithsonian Museum, and Fords Theater.

Congratulations to senior Anna Nichols for receiving first runner-up for her piece, “The Storm” in the University at Albany's UHS Creative Writing contest. Her piece, selected from within the UHS Topics in Literature course, will be featured in UAlbany's ARCH literary magazine and on the UHS News Section of its website.

Hotaling Named to Albany Tulip Court

Congratulations to senior Ryleigh Hotaling, who has been named to the Albany Tulip Court! Will she be this year’s Queen?

The Annual Tulip Festival is set for Mother’s Day weekend in Washington Park.

All the Right Moves: Claire Jacob-Zysman Joins AHN as Counselor, Dance Instructor

Claire Jacob-Zysman is a new addition to Academy of the Holy Names, and she arrives as a dual-threat: she’s AHN’s new School Counselor, and beginning in the fall, she’ll be teaching dance.

“I have been dancing since I was seven years old. I studied dance in college and moved on to dance professionally after college. During that time, I fell in love with teaching dance and spreading the joy, creativity, and discipline of dance to students. My dance teaching philosophy is that everyone is a dancer, and that dance can be used as a tool to build self-confidence, create connections, and be an outlet for self-expression. I use dance to empower the students to feel confident in their moving bodies and to express their emotions through the art of dance.”
