National Updates
Budget and Appropriations
The House and Senate have passed a Continuing Resolution to fund the government with two different end dates for funding. Agencies covered by the Military Construction-VA, Agriculture, Energy-Water, and Transportation-HUD bills are extended until January 19th, and the agencies covered by the other annual appropriation bills, including Labor-HHS-Education, are extended until February 2nd.
However, the House has since debated amendments to the funding bill including the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, but delayed the vote until after Thanksgiving. This amendment would cut funding by 28 percent and suggests another difficult negotiation with the Senate.

You can contact your senator and house representative using the Autism Center of America’s voter voice action center in support of the bipartisan SSI Savings Penalty Elimination Act. These bills (partner legislation in the House and Senate) would raise the savings limit for those receiving SSI from $2,000 for individuals to $10,000 annually and for married couples from $3,000 to $20,000. You can access the voter voice campaign here to urge Senators Fisher and Ricketts, and your House Representative to cosponsor the legislation.
