National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women | |
On December 6, 1989, 14 young women were murdered in a horrific act of gender-based violence (also known as femicide) at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal. On the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, we come together to mourn their loss, honor their memory, and reaffirm our commitment to fight the hatred that led to this tragic event. This day serves as a reminder that, both in Canada and globally, women, girls, LGBTQ2S+, and gender-diverse individuals still endure violence and discrimination.
