Location: Outside of the front entrance to the Ina Levine Jewish Community Campus.

PHA and the Center for Jewish Philanthropy will be co-hosting Unto Every Person There is a Name: A Reading of Names. PHA has reserved 5-minute increments for members to read between 1-2pm and 3-4pm. Andre Holten 

Holocaust survivor Andre Holten, 85, will share with the Arizona Jewish Historical Society how he survived the genocide, which claimed the lives of around six million Jews. He was the only survivor of his immediate family, staying alive by stowing away with a righteous family for the last two years of World War II.

The Story of the Jewish Partisan Resistance and Bravery in WII 

This essential documentary tells the stories of the Jewish partisans who took up arms against Hitler’s war machine. Despite extraordinary odds, over 25,000 Jews fought the Nazis and their collaborators from deep within the forests of Eastern Europe. The last surviving partisans tell their stories to director Julia Mintz who shines a spotlight on their bravery through interviews, archival footage, and historic war records.

Featured speaker: Björn Krondorfer, director of the Martin-Springer Institute (MSI) at Northern Arizona University  

‘Voices Silenced: Music from the Holocaust,’ a lecture-recital by Hannah Creviston and Baruch Meir, performing piano duets written by composers who were killed in the Holocaust.

‘The Jewish Escape to Uzbekistan’

Presented by Sandor Lubisch

 Wednesday, May 15 | 10-11:30 a.m.  

Held at the East Valley JCC

Sandor will discuss his book, “Yitzhak’s Escape: The Jewish Flight to Uzbekistan,” which is based on the true story of Sandor's maternal family, who lived in the small Eastern Polish town called Bolechov. 

Sandor M. Lubisch is a retired high school English teacher, reading specialist, professional development specialist, Arizona Master Teacher Mentor, and international education consultant.
