December 1, 2023

Dear Residents -

I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving and, as today is the first day of December, are getting geared up for the fast approaching holiday season. With next Thursday being the first night of Chanukah and Christmas Day 18 days later, it will be here in a blink.

So, if you are ready to kick off the holiday season, please join me this Saturday at the Winter Wonderland Family Festival at St. Thomas Aquinas College. With inflatables, food, Mr. and Mrs. Claus and more, it is sure to be a fun time for the entire family. Then, on Sunday at 5 pm, you can head to the Gazebo on Main Street in Nyack for the Chamber of Commerce holiday tree lighting. Afterwards, you can stroll through Nyack and grab yourself a bite to eat, a hot chocolate or, better yet, an Irish Coffee! Both events are sure to be a great way to kick off the holiday season.

The Orangetown Parks and Recreation Department is feeling festive! Next Sunday, December 10, 2023, they will be hosting the Annual Santa Claus 5k Run at Veterans Memorial Park. With a Santa Claus (or two) usually seen along the course, every participant getting an official race hat and hot chocolate served after the race, it is always a fun time for the entire family. Walkers are welcome, as well as those looking to cheer everyone on! To register, please click here, but do so before December 8th to avoid a price increase.

The Orangetown Police Department provides me with important public service announcements to include in the newsletter each week. Please take a few minutes to read them, as they provide valuable safety tips. This week, they offer some sound advice on how to avoid having your packages stolen this holiday season.

Whatever you choose to do, have a safe weekend.

Regards,

Teresa M. Kenny

Turkey Trot, Rockland Lake 2023

Supervisor Kenny was joined by her daughter, friends and over 2,500 other participants to run the Turkey Trot at Rockland Lake on Thanksgiving morning. They did a 5 mile "trot" around the lake in support of the Marisa Fund. The Marisa Fund raises money for research, treatment and care of pediatric cancer patients. Congratulations to race director and Marisa’s dad, Dave Goldwasser, for another successful race!
