Community Safety

We regularly highlight safety strategies we can all consider to help keep ourselves and our neighbors safe. This month we are highlighting the City's 311 Department.

The 311 Department is the primary source of contact for the City. They provide a single access point for all non-emergency information and service requests.

Minneapolis residents, businesses and visitors can contact 311 to:

  • Find out about City services
  • Check the status of issues
  • Get other city-related information
  • Report problem

To file a report with 311, all of the following should be true:

  • This is not an emergency situation.
  • You are not reporting the loss or theft of a firearm.
  • You are not reporting the actual theft of a vehicle.
  • The incident happened within Minneapolis city limits.
  • No weapon was used.
  • No one was injured.

Ways you can contact 311:

Call: 311 inside city limits or 612-673-3000

Email: Minneapolis311@minneapolismn.gov

Download: the 311 app on your smartphone

The Minneapolis Health Department is partnering with Tree Trust to offer 1,000 low-cost shade and evergreen trees to help build the city’s tree canopy. The trees range from 3 feet to 8 feet, depending on the type of tree.

All Minneapolis property owners can enter the lottery. If selected, you’ll get an email in April with information on how to order your tree(s). Trees must be picked up on either May 18 or 19. Learn more here.

CIDNA resident and board member, Amanda Vallone owner of nearby business, ARTrageous Adventures, hosted a fun Mardi Gras themed event on Tuesday, Feb 13th (Fat Tuesday).

The event was held at Jones Harrison Senior Living and was an Intergenerational Community Celebration. It featured mask making, a local musician, “Raycurt Fiddla” and local business, The Slide Queen who were frying up the best beignets in the Midwest for purchase.
