Freedom comes with a cost. Think about that for a minute. For something to be free, there is always a loss. It could be monetary leaving with financial loss, or physical, which could be a loss in mobility or dealing with chronic pain. Someone we love passes but is now free from pain and suffering, we feel the loss but they are free.
War comes with a cost beyond the loss of lives. It tears families apart, destroys towns, and puts people and countries against one another. It causes fear and loss of security. Peace and silence are no longer felt or heard. We take everyday life, with its freedoms and peace, for granted. Stop and look at what you have and be thankful that you are not living in the middle of a war-torn town or country right now. Sure, life can be tough, but it is never so bad that it couldn’t be worse.
Pray for peace, safety, security, and an end to war for those who are currently experiencing or impacted by conflict. Do not forget those who continue to serve and protect us. Most of all, let us not forget those who served and fought or made the ultimate sacrifice so we may have freedom and peace today.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of a couple of members of our church family. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
The sympathy of our congregations goes out to Sue Lawson and her family on the passing of Grant Lawson on October 28th, 2023.
A memorial service will be held at Mount Forest United Church, on Saturday, November 4th at 11:00 a.m., with visitation at the church from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Following the service, all are invited to the church hall for refreshments and fellowship.

Visitation will be held at the England Funeral Home on
Sunday, November 5th, from 2:00-4:00, where a funeral service will be conducted on Monday, November 6th at 12:00 p.m., with visitation from 11:00 – 11:45 a.m.

Fall Community Dinner! Will be held on Sunday, November 12th at
5:30 p.m. By donation.
The Mission and Service Committee welcomes volunteer help on Saturday, November 11th, at 8:30 a.m. to help with set up and preparation for the community supper as well as help with serving and cleanup on Sunday, November 12th. A sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board outside the fellowship hall.

Community Cantata Choir: will be holding their annual Christmas Cantata on Dec. 17 and 18 in Mount Forest and Arthur. If you are interested in joining the choir, rehearsals begin Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. at
Grace Anglican Church in Arthur.

The number of contribution envelope sets that are required to be ordered continues to decline each year. This results in some reorganization of envelope numbers. If you are on PAR and do not use or require a set of envelopes, please contact the church office. A new contribution number will be assigned that will identify you as a PAR contributor and can be used to make donations other than your monthly PAR contribution. BAKING –pies, fruitcakes, Christmas puddings, tarts, tea biscuits, breads, and goodies to be tucked into your freezer and ready for Christmas.

Gifts with vision catalogues have arrived! There is so much to highlight this year. Food security, safe water, reliable power, clean laundry, and even bus tokens are things most of us take for granted. For many people, these things are not possible for various reasons. Many of this year’s gifts reflect these realities. Help Build a Well gift has a new location this year: the villages of Am-am and Madalipey in the Philippines. The clearing of forests has caused local creeks to run dry and water is scarce. Gifts with vision will help provide a stable source of water for family farms and homes.
Closer to home there is Operation Backpack in North Dundas, Ontario, where The House of Lazarus provides food every Friday to children and youth in need. Teachers slip the food into children’s backpacks, so no one feels singled out and students come to school Mondays well-fed and ready to learn.

Sing! Chorus Choir's Christmas concerts at the Walkerton Victoria Jubilee Hall are as follows:
Thursday, November 23 at 7:30 p.m., Friday, November 24 at 7:30 p.m.,
Saturday, November 25 at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 26 at 2 p.m.
Adult tickets are $20 and children are $5. Tickets can be ordered/purchased from Susan MacArthur at 519.313.5442.
