Nominations Open for DCI Annual Awards
DCI Retailer of the Year Award
The Retailer of the year should be well established in the community. The shop should have a clean modern façade and signage. The staff should be attentive, friendly and knowledgeable and display “Customer Service Excellence”. They should make good use of Social Media and local advertising promoting both the store and the downtown. Consideration is given to; the number of years in business, success over the years, community engagement, youth mentoring, volunteering and support for the downtown revitalization efforts.

DCI Business Improvement of the Year Award.
The Business Improvement of the Year award will be judged on overall look, maintenance of property, improvement to community, inspiration to others and any other unique characteristics of the property. This Commercial property will have undergone significant and noticeable improvement to its exterior and/or interior. Consideration is given to growth in business as depicted by increases in employment and service.

DCI President’s Award
The DCI President’s Award is a catch all category which responds to those potential recipients who do not fit in any particular category but who have performed in the best interests of the BIA and its goals.
The recipient will have made significant impact to the commercial and residential community which contributed to economic wellbeing of the downtown.
It could be given to a business that has reached a milestone of being in business for many years or to an individual who displays exceptional community spirit, volunteerism, mentoring or entrepreneurship.

Façade Improvement Program
We are now accepting grant applications for the 2023 Façade Improvement Program. DCI will be awarding a total of $25,000 in façade enhancements to commercial property owners and business owners within BIA.
Under the program, successful applicants are eligible to receive 50% of cost of their façade improvement project(s) their cost (excluding HST) up to a maximum of $4,000.
