Looking for an international internship experience this summer? Apply for the GAIN Summer Internship with the German Academic International Network (GAIN) at the DAAD New York office! Internships will start between May 1 and June 1 and end on September 15 or 30, 2024. Interns will assist with organizing the 24th Annual GAIN Conference of international mobile researchers from Germany.

Networking Tour and Program

DAAD AInet Fellowship


The DAAD AInet Fellowship is awarded twice a year to a group of outstanding international early career researchers in the field of artificial intelligence. Awardees will be invited to join the Postdoctoral Networking Tour in Artificial Intelligence (Postdoc-NeT-AI), a two-step networking program that offers participants the opportunity to interact face-to-face with leading researchers in Germany, with the aim of initiating collaborations, and creating new research and career opportunities. Additionally, awardees are included in the DAAD AInet Fellows & Alumni Network, offering long-term access to German AI research and bringing together bright researchers from all around the world.

For Undergraduate Pell Grant Recipients

Gilman-DAAD Germany Scholarships


The Gilman-DAAD Germany Scholarship Program provides 40 additional scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students per year who are recipients of Federal Pell Grants to study and/or intern for academic credit in Germany through the Gilman Program. This deadline is for in-person programs or internships that begin between May 1, 2024 and April 30, 2025.

Information Tour

Germany Today


DAAD invites representatives from universities, research institutions and funding agencies in the United States and Canada, as well as colleagues from the fields of education policy and politics, to join us for our “Germany Today” Information Tour 2024 from Jun 16-21, 2024. This year’s tour will focus on the opportunities and challenges faced by German universities in the broader context of society, the workforce, and a rapidly evolving geopolitical environment.

STEP USA

Pitch Night February 2024


The German American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (GACC), the DWIH New York and the German Consulate General New York are excited to host the STEP USA University Program Pitch Night on Wednesday, February 14th, 2024! They are proud to welcome a startup cohort from Germany to the Startup Entrepreneurship Program (STEP USA) in New York to a 3-day strategy development boot-camp supporting promising German startups and their expansion to the US. During the famous STEP USA Pitch Night at the German Consulate General New York, the cohort will present their ideas to potential customers and partners, followed by time to network over snacks and drinks. A jury consisting of venture capital investors will be providing direct feedback.

DAAD Climate Lecture Series


DAAD is pleased to host the first public online lecture series within the framework of its four "Global Centres for Climate and Environment." The lectures are public and free of charge. The next lecture in the series, "Land Degredation in Savannahs and Nature-Based Solutions for Restoration," will feature Dr. Lydia Olaka of the Technical University of Kenya.

Paid Summer Opportunity

GAIN Summer Internship


We are currently accepting applications for a summer internship with the German Academic International Network (GAIN) at the DAAD New York office, starting between May 1 and June 1 to September 15 or 30, 2024. The internship involves assisting with organizing the 24th Annual GAIN Conference of international mobile researchers from Germany. Applicants should be fluent in English and have strong German language skills, have an interest in higher education and science policy, be highly organized and detail oriented, and enjoy being a part of a small team. Prior experience with event planning is a plus. Interns will receive a monthly stipend of $1,500.
