PCC Welcomes New Board Member

Julie Allen, Chief Financial Officer at Hampton Regional Medical Center (HRMC) in Affiliation with MUSC Health, has spent her entire 19-year career in rural healthcare. During that time, she led the helm in securing funding and managed the budget as HRMC embarked on building a brand-new facility and campus.


Julie currently serves on the Lowcountry Area Health Education Center board as the treasurer, and enjoys working in the field of healthcare where she can support the healthcare workers who save lives every day. Julie sees every day as a new challenge. 

SC Telehealth and Telemedicine Modernization Act

ICYMI: Co-Chairmen of the South Carolina Telehealth Alliance Kathy Schwarting and Jimmy McElligott, MD, presented to a Senate Medical Affairs subcommittee in support of H. 4159, the Telehealth and Telemedicine Modernization Act. Having received a third reading in both chambers, the bill as amended was enrolled by the House on Wednesday, Jan. 31. The bill now travels to Gov. Henry McMaster’s desk for his signature of approval.

Digital Literacy Trainings in Hampton County

Palmetto Care Connections (PCC) was honored to spend two days with residents of Hampton County. PCC in partnership with LISC provided a 2-day tablet training program. The program aims to empower residents with skills to empower them in the areas of education, employment, and healthcare resources. A big thanks to Hampton County Public Library for allowing use of their facility. Congratulations, Hampton County!

Family Solutions Family Resource Center

PCC was proud to attend the grand opening of the Family Solutions Family Resource Center in Orangeburg, SC. The center is a flexible, community and family focused hub for legal advice, life insurance education, pregnancy information and much more. For more information, please call (803) 531- 8008.

PCC appreciates its partnership with the Lowcountry Digital Equity Coalition (LDEC), fostering collaboration for a brighter future. The meeting was a testament to joint objectives and shared goals. LDEC's mission, centered around collective digital inclusion activities, and preparing households, municipalities and business entities to adopt and utilize Broadband, aligns seamlessly with our commitment to modernizing health care. Together, we're shaping a path towards innovation and positive change.

Affordable Connectivity Program

Funding Opportunity

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) released a new Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to integrate behavioral health services into primary care settings using telehealth technology. HRSA will award approximately $8.75 million to up to 25 grantees over a period of five years.
