Dear Sunset Ridge Families,
It's been so fun to see the kids improve the school through their creative thinking and persuasive writing! Recently, we added wiffleball on the upper playground, which has been a huge hit!
And that builds on the addition of a kids' size football field goal, the school dance, stronger spoons for our cafeteria (so we don't have to use plastic disposable spoons and harm the environment), and some ideas that are in formation, including a schoolwide science fair and an "Art From the Heart" club to make art projects for first responders and elderly people. So sweet!
A third grader wrote a persuasive essay about why we should have volleyball as a recess option, and a 4th grader has led the addition of tennis as another option. Several staff have brought in tennis rackets and balls that they had at home, and it's become quite popular!
The 3rd grader mentioned above is also working with our PE teacher, Ms. Franklin, to add more options for our upper playground. Those include volleyball, pickleball, spikeball, tennis, and badminton.
I put together a wishlist in collaboration with the 3rd grader and Ms. Franklin and figured I'd reach out because some of you might have things lying around unused in a garage (I have a badminton net I plan to bring in). And, of course, if you'd like to purchase any of the items, we'd welcome it!
Ms. Franklin and I are starting to think about the need for storage for all this cool stuff, as well, thinking that we might need to add a shed eventually ...
Because of the creativity and great persuasive writing of our kids, this school keeps getting more fun!
