Seeking Donations for Older Student Sizes

Pants & Leggings

Hello Sunset Ridge Families,

The Health Office is in need of leggings, sweatpants or any type of pants in older student sizes. We are extremely low and with the beautiful weather and muddy grass, many students need a dry pair of pants. Also, socks and boy underwear for all ages. If you are unable to donate, please consider keeping an extra pair of pants and socks in your child's backpack. As always we appreciate your help in keeping your child dry and comfortable at school!

Thank you kindly,

Sonya Waldorf and Jenna Schissel

Dear Sunset Ridge Families,

It's been so fun to see the kids improve the school through their creative thinking and persuasive writing! Recently, we added wiffleball on the upper playground, which has been a huge hit!

And that builds on the addition of a kids' size football field goal, the school dance, stronger spoons for our cafeteria (so we don't have to use plastic disposable spoons and harm the environment), and some ideas that are in formation, including a schoolwide science fair and an "Art From the Heart" club to make art projects for first responders and elderly people. So sweet!

A third grader wrote a persuasive essay about why we should have volleyball as a recess option, and a 4th grader has led the addition of tennis as another option. Several staff have brought in tennis rackets and balls that they had at home, and it's become quite popular!

The 3rd grader mentioned above is also working with our PE teacher, Ms. Franklin, to add more options for our upper playground. Those include volleyball, pickleball, spikeball, tennis, and badminton.

I put together a wishlist in collaboration with the 3rd grader and Ms. Franklin and figured I'd reach out because some of you might have things lying around unused in a garage (I have a badminton net I plan to bring in). And, of course, if you'd like to purchase any of the items, we'd welcome it!

Ms. Franklin and I are starting to think about the need for storage for all this cool stuff, as well, thinking that we might need to add a shed eventually ...

Because of the creativity and great persuasive writing of our kids, this school keeps getting more fun!

Sunset Celebrates with Stories!

Sunset Celebrates with Stories!

Please welcome Tamra Dougherty to the Sunset Ridge Library! Ms. Tamra is a parent of a former Sunset Ridge student and will be working as the LMC para this Spring as well as helping out at bus, lunch, and recess duty.

I’m grateful for our 4th grade Library Wizards and parent volunteers who help Tamra and I keep the library running smoothly. We’d love a few more volunteers who could help out a few times a month with K-1 classes from 12:20-2:30. If you’re interested, there is a sign-up genius for February-March dates (more to come). Feel free to stop in the library or email ewagoner@mcpasd.k12.wi.us if you’d like to learn more.

After our school celebrates Literacy Week Feb 26th - March 1st, the PTA has organized the Scholastic Bookfair during the week of conferences. You could sign up to help on the PTA’s Volunteer sign-up. We’re looking for help on Friday 3/8 to assist classes as they fill out wish lists and 3/12 - 3/15 to help run the bookfair during recesses.

I’ll have a cart of library books available in the gym for our Rise and Shine Reading on Wednesday 2/28 from 7:20 -7:40 a.m. Caregivers are invited to bring a blanket (and your own favorite book if you choose) and come read stories together on the floor of the gym.

Happy Reading!
