Dear Wolverine Hillel Family,

Despite the disheartening news stream coming from Israel that clouds our days, we at Hillel are continuing to support Jewish students on campus. Our incredible staff has been working extended hours providing support, offering opportunities for conversation and learning, and creating moments for Jewish expression and joy. They are simply doing it all and I am grateful for all of their hard work. With the increased demands, and Tilly Shemer’s departure at the beginning of the semester, it became clear that we needed to bring in extra support while we continue the search process for Michigan Hillel’s next CEO.

With that, it’s my pleasure to share that Rabbi Davey Rosen will begin serving as our Interim CEO starting this Wednesday, November 8th. Rabbi Rosen is familiar with our Hillel having served as our Associate Director from 2011-2018, he has relationships with many University administrators who remain on campus, and is experienced in crisis management. Best of all, he is passionate about and experienced in creating a thriving Jewish community on campus. He received Rabbinic Ordination from the Academy for Jewish Religion and holds a Masters in Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary. Please join me in welcoming Rabbi Rosen back to Michigan Hillel. You can reach him by email at daveyr@umich.edu

Be Well,

Abbey Frank
