Methodical Thinking - Mark 7:1-23

We believe the Christian faith was revealed in Scripture, illumined by tradition, vivified in personal experience and confirmed by reason. This method of thinking and interpreting scriptures is not prescribed in the Bible, but Jesus uses this rubric in his ministry. Join us as we explore our distinctive theological emphasis to the Christian faith.

IF IT IS OUT OF SERVICE ON ANY SUNDAY, WE WILL SET UP VIEWING OF THE LIVESTREAM IN THE LIBRARY.

Submit information each week for the Messenger and Bulletin Announcements by WEDNESDAY AT 12 pm for inclusion in these communications. Please use above button or click here for the COMMUNICATIONS submission form -- all requests for communicating an event should be made via this form, including getting items on the calendar and reserving rooms for your event. This form can also be found on the sign-ups page on our website. Special Church Conference this Sunday

Rev. Bross has authorized a Special Church Conference to authorize funding for elevator repair and the restoration, repair and renewal of our church grounds after or sewer repair and geothermal installation. The Special Church Conference will be THIS Sunday, April 7, at 10:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary.

We want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to the amazing volunteers who give their time and energy to serve our community through our church. To show our appreciation, we're purchasing church volunteer t-shirts for anyone in the congregation that wants one!

We would like everyone to wear these t-shirts when volunteering for upcoming events like the Rummage Sale, Pancake Breakfast, Swedish Days and other outreach opportunities.

The 185th Anniversary Steering team is looking for people to volunteer to help coordinate the events for our Anniversary Celebration on September 27-29, 2024

We are looking for people to help on one of the subcommittees that will plan each day's event:

Fri, Sep. 27: Church History Celebration and Reunion with previous clergy and staff

Sat, Sep. 28: Afternoon Block party and Family Fun Day

Sun, Sep. 29: Worship Service with Bishop Schwerin and Reception Following

When two UMCG volunteers recently delivered dinners to Lazarus House, a local homeless shelter in St Charles, they chatted with one of the staff on hand and learned some great information:

The Committees on Missions/Church in Society send a huge THANK YOU to congregation members and friends who added $10,000 to our $33,000 goal through your generous Easter giving! How exciting to watch the red temperature line rising on the thermometer in the Fellowship Hall. (The elevator may not be rising but our compassion IS.)

We can take pride in realizing the impact on our mission partners. We’ve recently heard from World Relief and The Neighbor Project; over the next few months we will get updates from Habitat for Humanity, Tri City Family Services, and Hesed House. How privileged we are to serve as the hands, feet, and heart of Jesus Christ.

UMCG's Caregiver Support Group will be meeting next Thursday, April 11 at 10 am in the Parlor. This group is a safe place to talk to others who truly understand the sometimes lonely, frightening and confusing road of caregiving.

EARTH DAY APRIL 22, 2024: Planet vs. Plastic!

Plastics consume our lives. We have relied on its one-time use convenience for decades and keep thinking that by recycling our items we are doing our part for our planet. The truth is recycling was never going to be the answer. Watch “Plastic: How did we get into this mess?” a 2023 video by Greenpeace UK to learn about the history of plastics, the truth about recycling it and the Global Plastics Treaty that hopes to find the solution.
