The misguided reason why providers aren’t prescribing more buprenorphine for opioid use disorder

Some providers cite diversion as a reason for not prescribing lifesaving buprenorphine, but a recent study highlighted in this article suggests that non-prescribed buprenorphine could be protective.

Opioid Prescribing Patterns After Imposition of Setting-Specific Limits on Prescription Duration

"The findings of this cross-sectional study suggest that policies tailored to specific clinical settings may be associated with reduced lengths of opioid prescriptions".

Recreational and Medical Cannabis Legalization and Opioid Prescriptions and Mortality

In this cohort study, no observable correlation was identified between cannabis regulations and opioid prescriptions or fatal opioid overdoses. However, the findings suggest a potential decrease in synthetic opioid fatalities linked to the implementation of recreational cannabis laws.
