WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE CCC?

Starting late February through March all Juniors and Freshman met in the College Career Center during English class to meet individually with their Counselor. While waiting for their meeting and after they finished, students were all brought through a lesson on SchooLinks. These lessons emphasized what they need to know and work on to prepare for college and life after high school.

Juniors focused on researching Careers that align with what they like to do and determining education plans to achieve those careers. They learned which majors are suited for different careers of interest and searched colleges that offer the identified majors. Additionally, they looked at admissions data to help identify schools by likely, target and reach based on their personal academic record.

Freshman focused on identifying their personal learning style and discussed the importance of developing good study habits for high school and beyond. They focused on personal successes, what they do well and where they can do better to get the most out of each class. Freshmen were also introduced to the different types of information available on SchooLinks.

What's happening in Japanese?

On March 12th, Japanese 3H, AP classes and visitors from Toyama embarked on a field trip to Sky Creation, a flight school located in Long Beach. During our visit, we not only learned how to become a pilot but also gleaned insights into pursuing our dreams. Mr. Nakamura, the founder and CEO of the company, shared his personal journey of leaving a well-paying job at Pfizer to pursue his passion for aviation. He also delved into the concept of "ikigai," a Japanese term encompassing the essence of life's purpose—the convergence of what one loves, excels at, can be compensated for, and fulfills a need in the world. Inspired by our experience, we embarked on our own quests to discover our ikigai.

Welcome to Camp Half-Blood! Do you want to join a quest with all of your favorite Greek myths?
