"I hope you don't mind that I put down in words how wonderful life is while you're in the world"

ELTON JOHN

As the days begin to grow longer, winter is shifting into spring. We are in planning mode at WWC. There are fun days ahead to share. Please read the information in our newsletter from Deidri Ottesen and Angela Little, our two 2nd Vice Presidents, about our Spring Fling Bus Trip on Wednesday April 17 to two wineries in Yadkin Valley. Please reserve your spot as reservations are first come first serve.

Speaking of reservations, please remember to make your luncheon reservation each month as you receive the email. You will not want you to miss the next luncheon. March will feature a wine tasting of French wines by Kelli from Ds Bottle Shop. Our April luncheon is one of the highlights of our year . We will feature our annual fashion show.

We celebrated our February luncheon on Valentine's Day. What a lovely time we shared together. The food was delicious, our speaker who was the owner of Z-Fit was excellent and we welcomed some of our newest members. To honor the 49 new members, we are planning a New Member Social on March 6. Please save the date and see the details in our New Member's Social article by Marti Huisman. We hope to see all of our newest members. This is open to all club members to welcome them.

If you have questions or need assistance, your Executive and General Boards are pleased to serve you. We look forward to see you at all of the activities, socials and luncheons.

Wakefield Women’s Club is going to help cover the cost of the wine; you only have to pay $5 if you plan to participate! Spring Fling Bus Trip to Two Vineyards

Deidri Ottesen & Angela Little

2nd VPs

Spring Fling Bus Trip

to 2 Vineyards

Wednesday, April 17

(8am - 7:30pm)

Please join us April 17th on a fun-filled bus trip to the beautiful Yadkin Valley wine country! We will first visit Shelton Vineyards for a tour, tasting and lunch at the vineyard’s restaurant, Harvest Grill. Shelton Vineyard has been in business for 20 years and is one of the largest vineyards in NC. They have won numerous awards for their Cabernets, Chardonnays, Riesling, Claret, Malbec, Verdot, Port, Rose, and Sauvignon Blanc. Included with your trip is lunch and 3 one ounce tastings at Shelton Vineyards.

After a delicious lunch, we will hop back on the bus for a 30 minute ride over to a new vineyard in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Castello Barone. The owners, Scott and Elizabeth Barone will tell us how they made their dream a reality and what it took to start a vineyard from scratch. They will give us a tour of their operation and offer us a tasting of their wines. You may purchase a partial tasting of 4 one ounce pours of your choice for $12 or a full tasting of 7 one ounce pours of all of their wines (except sparkling) for $21.

This will be a full day of playing games on the bus, indulging in a delicious lunch and sampling some tasty wines. The total cost for this much fun is $50 pp. This includes the bus trip and lunch with 3 one ounce tastings at Shelton Vineyards. Not included in this price is the tasting at Castello Barone. You will pay for that optional tasting at the winery.

The bus will leave Wakefield Country Club at 8:30am sharp on Wednesday, April 17th and will return around 7:30pm that evening. The bus only has room for 52 ladies so it’s important to register and pay soon. If there are still some seats available on April 1st, we will open the registration up to guests for $55pp. The registration link is below.

Contact Deidri Ottesen or Angela Little if you have any questions. We look forward to sharing a fun day with you!

Looking for Volunteers!

Putting together the directory is a huge task. Please consider volunteering to help out.

At the moment, we need to write thank you notes for our directory advertisers and deliver a directory with the note to them. If we can get 5 volunteers, each will only have to write out and deliver 3 notes accompanied with a directory. Please contact Deidri at wwclub.directory@gmail.com to volunteer.
