An Intro to EPA's Community Change Grant

Join Central Pines Regional Council and the Southern Economic Advancement Project this Friday, February 9 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm for a free, virtual overview and Q&A on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Community Change Grant. This $2 billion grant is directed toward community-based organizations working to reduce pollution and increase climate resiliency across a broad range of activities. Triangle Transportation Choices RFP Closes February 12!

The FY25-26 Request for Proposals (RFPs) for the Triangle Transportation Choices is closing soon! Applications for all 3 RFPs are due to Central Pines Regional Council (CPRC) by 5:00 pm on February 12, 2024. Triangle Transportation Choices is a Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program in the seven-county Triangle region of North Carolina. The program aims to reduce commuter reliance on single-occupancy vehicles (SOV) by encouraging healthier, lower-cost, greener and more sustainable options such as carpool, vanpool, public transit, biking, walking, teleworking, and flexible work weeks.

Area Aging Plan Survey

Central Pines Area Agency on Aging is seeking input for the upcoming 2024-2028 Area Plan. Be sure to let them know what your thoughts are on aging by completing the survey linked below. The survey will be open through February 29. Questions can be sent to aging@centralpinesnc.gov or call 919-558-2708.

Community Climate Conversations - Survey Closes February 9!

Last month, Central Pines Regional Council hosted four different Community Climate Conversations around the region. Thank you to everyone who came out and shared the survey with their networks. There is still time to fill out the survey, it will close this Friday, February 9. Next steps include: 1) the draft greenhouse gas emission inventory will be out for viewing soon; 2) the Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP) will be released in early March. This plan will include survey results and specific input received during the PCAP development; and 3) begin on the more detailed Comprehensive Climate Action Plan which is due summer/fall 2025. Stay tuned for more updates!

2024 AARP Community Challenge

The AARP Community Challenge provides small grants to fund quick-action projects that can help communities become more livable for people of all ages. One of Central Pine Area Agency on Aging's strategic goals is to help lead the conversation to assist our local governments to become Age-Friendly Communities. This is a grant opportunity for our member governments to look at their public places, transportation, housing, digital connections, community resilience, community health, and economic empowerment, especially for those 50 or older.
