Dear Members and Friends,
Good news to report this month as the NCH Heart and Stroke Institute cleared a major hurdle in the approval process for its downtown location. This life saving medical facility will be located just minutes away from The Moorings. The Miracle Mile Project also moved forward with a unanimous vote by the City Council (see article below for more detail).
There is less than a month until the March 19th election for Naples Mayor and City Council. More than 200 residents attended the Candidates Forum which was co-sponsored by MPOA, GSAC and the PSA.
I look forward to seeing you at the Annual Meeting next Thursday, February 29th. Please RSVP this week.
See you at the Beach Park.

Beach Park Update: The Beach Park's restoration continues to move forward with many areas at or near completion. The sod is now complete and the showers have been replaced. New flowers and pine straw were planted around the central walkway flagpole and Porch. There is an order pending for a few more dining tables, benches and chairs which is expected late March or April. Ongoing technical issues continue to prevent operation of WiFi near the beach.
The Collier County bidding process for beach plantings is currently underway with planting anticipated in the June or July timeframe.

Miracle Mile Project Receives Unanimous Support from City Council
City Council unanimously voted on February 7th to proceed with the Miracle Mile streetscape plan by hiring a local consulting firm, Agnoli, Barber & Brundage to produce a conceptual master plan to rebuild the "public realm," This plan will include a 1.3-mile stretch of Gulf Shore Boulevard North from the Naples Beach Club to Doctor’s Pass. Close to 150 residents from the Miracle Mile attended the meeting, along with representatives from all 38 developments, the press, Miracle Mile developers, and the Presidents of the MPOA and CSA.
As this will be a several year project, City Manager, Jay Boodheshwar stated that the City of Naples, in the meantime, will be restoring the medians on the Miracle Mile to their pre-Hurricane Ian condition. This restoration will involve replacing trees and bushes to ensure the medians maintain their appeal during the ongoing redevelopment. Future plans include a cohesive, lush streetscape design following input from local landscape architects, the City Arborist, and insights from the Naples Botanical Gardens.
An important clarification to the recent Naples Daily News article is that the upcoming City Council Workshop meeting on 2/20 will not discuss funding aspects for the Miracle Mile. Funding discussions will follow the completion of the master plan when ballpark costs are clearer. The focus of the upcoming meeting on 2/20 will be an update on median and beach access restoration efforts.
