Financial Aid Update

Students who are filling out their FAFSA may encounter an issue where contributors without a social security number (SSN) are unable to start or access the 2024-25 application form. Until it is resolved, the Federal Student Aid Commission has provided instructions for submitting the form if you have a contributor without an SSN. Please note that following the instructions will result in an incomplete FAFSA submission that must be corrected at a later date.

Queer and Trans Community College Student Oral History Project

The Queer and Trans Community College Student Oral History Project tells the stories of approximately 50 queer students in community colleges via video-recorded oral history interviews. Many of the students interviewed attend one of the Los Rios Colleges.

These interviews, and the other resources provided on QueerTransCollege.org, are meant to help community college educators provide more robust and nuanced support for our queer and trans students in general, and more broadly our students of color, disabled and neurodiverse students, and our poor and working-class queer students in particular.

Professor Sara Smith-Silverman (she/they), Professor of History and LGBTQ+ Studies at American River College oversaw the project and conducted the interviews.

Visit QueerTransCollege.org to learn more or follow the project on Instagram @QueerTransCollege and Facebook @QTCollege.
