Good afternoon Trevor-
It's beginning to feel like winter. A few sure signs:
Frozen Ground. AKA, poor man's concrete. Days like this make me smile. It's 25 degrees and tolerable. But most of all, the ground is frozen and there is no mud. A muddy winter on the farm is miserable.
Frozen Water Lines. Not as fun as frozen ground. Someday I'll get ahead enough to get everything drained and blown out before they freeze. This week, it's just the sprinklers in the the flower beds. The important part - water to the animals - is fine. Life goes on.
Eggnog. Yes, the kitchen is busy today making our first batch of thick, custardy eggnog. Only 100 jars available this week.
Moving Beef Out. We moved the beef into their winter barn yesterday. All but 8 who decided to revolt. I've wasted at least 6 hours chasing these jerks around trying to get them on the trailer. Now it's a matter of pride that they cooperate. After this newsletter, wish me luck outsmarting them because I can't outrun them.
Winter Schedule. Also, a small reminder about the delivery schedule. This week is a on "ON Week" and next week is an off week. After that, we have deliveries the weeks of Dec 16 and Dec 30.
Thanks
Trevor
