We Served 173 Households in 2023

With your help, we provided shelter and housing and the opportunity to explore opportunities for the future to almost 200 families.

Haven Housing served 36 households through the former Next Step Housing supportive housing program and 40 women and non-binary people at the former Ascension Place sober transitional housing program. At St. Anne’s Place emergency family shelter, we served 97 mothers and their 193 children.

Last month, more than 450 families were in shelter in Hennepin County. Haven Housing @ St. Anne’s Place can only serve 16 families at a time, so we must work to prevent homelessness and change systems that lead to homelessness, like lack of affordable housing, low wages, and violence. Check out how you can join advocacy efforts during Homeless Day on the Hill.

Enrichment activities are one way we provide a sense of normalcy and an opportunity for healing to families. Supporters like you make field trips, tutoring, therapeutic art activities, and music therapy possible. Thank you for helping bring joy to children and families.

A Sunrise at Ascension Place

After the women and non-binary people in our Ascension Place sober transitional housing program moved to their next best home and the program sunset, Haven Housing sold the property to our partners at Steps of Strategy. We are excited to follow their work to prevent homelessness.

Thank You to Our Board of Directors

We are excited to share that Debra Spears and Paul Galles have been elected as Haven Housing Board Chair and Vice Chair. Debra has served on Haven Housing’s Board since 2021 and, before that, volunteered for many years hosting birthday parties for Haven Housing participants. We welcomed Paul to our Board in 2023 and appreciate his commitment and expertise. Mary Dedeaux-Swinton and Michael Laux are continuing to serve as Secretary and Treasurer. We also want to thank Paul Francis, Natalie Ives, Emily Stearns, and Kim Stephan for their leadership on our Board of Directors. Many thanks to Shereese Turner as she steps down from her role as Chair to continue to advocate for families in new ways.
