Ten ways to show love for the environment

1. Swap out plastic items for eco-friendly alternatives like reusable bags, stainless steel water bottles, or glass food containers.

2. Recycle your electronics to conserve valuable resources and to prevent hazardous materials from ending up in landfills. Electronics Recycling Facility | Greater Lebanon RA, PA

3. Rethink your approach to landscaping. Instead of maintaining expansive lawns that require watering, chemical fertilizers, and frequent mowing, consider reducing lawn areas and replacing them with a diverse array of plants. Homegrown National Park

4. Plant native species that are suited to local climate and conditions. They require less water, fertilizer, and maintenance compared to non-native species, making them a resilient and sustainable choice for landscaping. Lebanon County Conservation District Tree & Plant Sale

5. Plant pollinator-friendly flowers to provide essential food sources for bees, butterflies, and other pollinating insects. Pollinators such as bees, butterflies, birds, and bats play a vital role in pollinating flowering plants, including many crops that humans rely on for food.

Have you seen the snow geese this year?

There are still snow geese to see at Middle Creek! Although the numbers decreased with the most recent snow days, warmer weather is expected in the next two weeks which could lead to more local waterfowl. An increased number of bald eagle sightings has also been reported! Visit the PA Game Commission website to find updates as well as tips for visiting.

The large shallow lake at Middle Creek provides a safe habitat for water fowl and the surrounding fields provide food for the birds as they migrate through the area. TLVC is proud to be part of the Middle Creek Initiative, supporting these crucial resting and feeding areas and sharing their importance with the community.
