The Introvert's Path to Serving the Church

Have you thought you might like to contribute to Sunday services but cringe at the idea of putting on an alb and standing up in front of people? Do you like playing with electronics? Then Virtual Ministry may be for you!

The Virtual Ministers ensure our service is streamed on Facebook every Sunday with good quality camera and audio. Of course, we'll train you.

Contact the office to express interest.

Book Club's April Book is Walking the Bible

The April selection for the book club is Walking the Bible by Bruce Feiler, who was born and raised in Savannah, GA. First published in 2001, the book is an account of the author’s exploration of the lands covered in the first five books of the Bible or the Torah.

According to Amazon, “You’ll visit the slopes of Mount Ararat, where Noah’s ark landed, trek to the desert outpost where Abraham first heard the words of God, and scale the summit where Moses received the Ten Commandments. Using the latest archeological research, Feiler explores how physical location affects the larger narrative of the Bible and ultimately realizes how much these places, as well as his experience, have affected his faith.”

The next meeting of the book club is Wednesday, April 10, following Evening Prayer at 5:00 pm.

Church Grounds Work Days!

There are two work days scheduled to get our grounds looking spiffy for spring:

Saturday, April 13 and Saturday, May 11

9 a.m. to noon.

Bring your work gloves, yard tools, floppy hat, and bug spray -- and don't forget to practice your best sea shanty. (Just kidding on that last one. Or am I?)

Childcare Provider Wanted

We are currently seeking a responsible adult to provide childcare in the nursery during Sunday Services and the occasional special event. This is a paid position, and there are training requirements.

Contact the church office to express interest and receive the job description.

Third Sunday Lunch Bunch will resume in April!

Apply now for Episcopal Church 2024-2025

educational scholarships

Applications are being accepted for a wide variety of educational scholarships from The Episcopal Church for the 2024-2025 academic year. The deadline to apply online is April 15. All applicants must be Episcopalian.

The scholarships—derived from annual income of more than 45 trust funds established through bequests to The Episcopal Church—range from assistance for children of missionaries, bishops and clergy to individuals seeking theological education and training. The maximum award is $10,000 per student.

For the 2023-24 year, 131 educational scholarships were awarded—from 186 applications received—for $390,216 to students from 51 dioceses and overseas Anglican partners.

At least nine of the scholarships are designated for Native American youth; others are specific to Black, Asian American, Chinese, and Hispanic students, as well as seminarians, among other listings. Applicants are encouraged to read the scholarship trust fund list and identify in their application those funds that best fit their situation.

Only complete applications will be considered. All applicants must have the endorsement of their Episcopal bishop.

Applications are reviewed by a scholarship committee composed of representatives from the Episcopal Church Executive Council, the church-at-large, the Treasurer’s Office, and various other Episcopal Church ministries.

For more information, contact Ann Hercules, associate for grants and scholarships.

‘Walking in the Footsteps of Jesus: An Easter Journey with Palestinian Christians’

Video series starts Easter Sunday

Offering reflections and teaching on the Sunday Gospel readings during the Easter season, this seven-video series from the Office of Global Partnerships will feature Archbishop Hosam Naoum and other clergy from the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem.

An Easter Sunday reflection with the archbishop will premier online at sunrise in Jerusalem and be available for viewing here. The following six videos will be posted online on Wednesdays starting April 3.

“The goal of this series is to help us explore and understand the Easter Gospels through a unique voice and lens—that of Palestinian Christians,” said Archdeacon Paul Feheley, The Episcopal Church partnership officer for the Middle East.

The videos will include English and Arabic readings of the Gospel passages, as well as insights shared from each speaker about the Scripture and information about their respective contexts.

Episcopal Revival, June 22, 7-9 p.m. ET

This churchwide revival will be at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky, the night before the start of the 81st General Convention. The event—which will also be livestreamed on The Episcopal Church’s Facebook and  YouTube pages—is free and open to the public.
