First Sunday of Easter Worship Services

Sunday, March 31, 2024

9:30 AM

Worship Each Week & Daily Prayer
Attending weekly gives you the opportunity to re-center your life,
give God honor and glory, and remember what is really important in life.

Did you miss a sermon or can't remember the good statement made by Pastor Jason recently?

You can access the complete library of sermons at our website. We ask for patience as we resume our sermon video production abilities!

He is Risen! Hallelujah!

We know the "rest of the story." Each of the gospels gives a version of the encounter with the resurrected Jesus (but not the actual "resurrection," the out-of-the-tomb description). While the reading from the gospel of John is the "preferred" version, this First Sunday of Easter we are going to look at the version according to the gospel of Mark, the earliest "testimony." Three women arrive at the tomb. The tomb is found already opened. A young man dressed in white is inside, sitting to the right. They are told to go tell the disciples that they will see him in Galilee.

But the women leave trembling and bewildered, and said "nothing to anyone, because they were afraid" (Mark 16:8).

Join us Sunday at 9:30 (online or in-person) as we encounter the anxiety and fear of Easter.

New Worship Series Begins April 7

Context: Exploring the Chapter Behind the Verse.

Context looks at verses we know by heart but may not know the people, places, and times that give them meaning. Josh Scott delves into these well-known Scripture verses, exploring their true meanings by examining them in their original biblical context. Through this process, he unveils fresh and enlightening interpretations often missed when these Scriptures are taken out of context.

Scriptures to be examined include:

A More Excellent Way - 1 Corinthians 13

Your People Shall Be My People - Ruth 1:16

You Always Have the Poor Among You - Mark 14:7

For Surely I Know the Plans I Have for You- Jeremiah 29:11

I Can Do All Things Through Him Who Strengthens Me - Philippians 4:13

Sodom and Gomorrah - Genesis 19

Worship Assistance Needed

The worship service slides are prepared. Coffee is hot, and donuts are served. Pastor Jason greets you at the door.

What's wrong with this picture? These tasks are handled and cared by Pastor Jason's family members in a majority of the situations. Every Sunday.

Help with Door Greeting? Your duties would be to arrive at the church no later than 8:50 am. Greet those at the entrance. Remain at the door until 9:40 am (about the time for "All God's children section of worship) for late arrivals.

Help with Worship Slides? Arrive in the balcony about 5 minutes before worship (9:25). Advance slides appropriately. Additional duties will be checking livestream when up and running.

On Easter, we celebrate the power of the resurrection together with the whole body of Christ as one united church in multiple places with many gifts and languages.

Gifts to the Easter Special Offering support ministries that help Disciples share the limitless love of God that overcomes death. General ministries of the Christian Church share the good news from our doorsteps to the ends of the earth through:

  • Mental health resources for pastors and congregations.
  • New congregations worship in a variety of languages and worship styles.
  • Leadership development programs that nurture new leaders in the church and the world.
  • Support for hospital and military chaplains serving around the world.

  • Relationships with global mission partners serving in communities impacted by conflict and climate change.
  • Opportunities like the General Assembly, where the church can gather for worshipful work.
  • And so much more...
