Chamber Connection

March 2024

Dear Chamber,

After six exceptional years as executive director, I’ll be stepping down at the end of April to pursue my entrepreneurial roots and return to being an LGBTQ+ BIPOC-owned business.

In 2017, by chance, I stumbled upon a meeting of LGBTQ+ businesses, NGLCC senior members, corporate DEI representatives, and officials from the Baker Administration. They were convening to establish a chamber in response to Governor Baker's Executive Order 565, which opened doors for LGBTQ+ businesses in the state's supplier diversity program. The potential for impact was enormous, and it was this promise that inspired me to dedicate myself fully to helping start the Massachusetts LGBT Chamber of Commerce.

Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic and economic downturns, we've witnessed numerous successes — watching businesses evolve from kitchen table startups to thriving enterprises, and witnessing corporations embrace LGBTQ+ inclusivity as a core value. Our team has expanded and our reach has grown statewide, with offices in Boston and Easthampton, serving over 500 members and partnering with 70 corporations.

As I bid farewell, I'm filled with immense joy and satisfaction. This role has provided me with a space to be authentically myself — an LGBTQ+ family member without masks or hiding. I've had the privilege of collaborating with an outstanding board, dedicated members, generous corporate partners, and the most talented staff in the field. The Chamber will continue to nurture LGBTQ+ business growth, driven by our collective vision. We will continue to contribute to the Commonwealth and navigate challenges together.

Thank you all for an incredible journey over the past six years. The best is yet to come!

Proudly,

Grace R. Moreno

Executive Director
