CareCloud: Advice from SCRC's Team of Experts

You notice that an elderly family member becomes disoriented or repeats questions that have already been answered. You suspect that they may need additional assistance with their day-to-day needs, but where will you begin?

It is so difficult to see a loved one struggle. That’s why I suggest that you enlist the help of other family members or community service agencies like SCRC to meet their day-to-day needs. To address repetitive behaviors, point out well-loved objects and photographs as a way of redirecting their focus. Soothing music and gentle touch can also be comforting.

I also recommend visiting Southern Caregiver Resource Center's website at www.scrc.care and exploring the tips shared in SCRC's Caregiving Corner series.
