A Narrative Budget tells the story of how our church practices good stewardship of the gifts entrusted to us. It provides a vision of where our church hopes to be in the coming budget cycle.

Stories of Stewardship:

Randy Layton

Stewardship to me is taking care of something entrusted to our care. First Presbyterian is a spiritual gift to me, so I feel I’m required to help take care of our church and give back to it and our community. I have served on the Associate Pastor Nominating Committee, and I presently serve on the Worship Committee. I have volunteered time with Meals on Wheels, Family Promise, and with a local food pantry. I participated in a sandwich ministry during COVID, and I enjoy baking cookies and cakes for church events and treats for the Wired Word Sunday school class that I attend. I serve as an usher and welcome members and guests to our church. And I tithe so we can meet our financial obligations and continue to be able to reach out to the community.

God has richly blessed my family and me, far beyond what I deserve. I can never fully repay all that has been given to me, but the above activities are meaningful and fulfilling ways to make a start. I encourage you to recognize your gifts and see how you can give.

Stories of Stewardship:

Jodi and Jonny Atkins

We share our gifts at FPC by being active members in the young adult program, singing in the choir, playing handbells, serving on nominating committees and session, delivering meals on wheels, and being on tech team. In this season of stewardship it is important to focus on all of the gifts we can give the church, not just monetary gifts. Finding ways to serve in different capacities (big and small!) is vital in the life of the church. We do this to glorify God and show our love for our church family.

Time & Talent Ministry Spotlight!

We have kicked off our Stewardship Season! Throughout this season we will be taking time to consider "Where Our Treasure Is" while planning on where we will spend our time, talent, and treasure in 2024.

To help everyone better understand the ministry opportunities we have at FPC, we will be going through our Time & Talent and laying out what different ministries do. Today we are going over our Music Ministry at FPC! Our choirs are wonderful ways to express the love and joy of the Lord in and out of worship! Joyful Noise, Hallelujah Kids!, Carillon Handbell Choir, Chancel Choir will ALL participate in worship this week for Commitment Sunday! Join us to hear all of the beautiful music we have to offer at FPC!

General Ministry Information

On Monday, October 9th, email statements we sent from the church to your email (if we have one on record). If we don’t have your email address, we will mail your statement on request. Just call the church office or send Peni Kehoe an email to: peni@fpccov.org or call 770.786.7321, ext. 1011 and leave a message if she is not available. She will return your email or call on the next day she works. If your statement has any errors or omissions contact Peni at the same information listed above.

If you made a pledge for the 2023 budget year and you are behind a few payments, now would be a good time to catch up! If you are unable to make catch up donations, you may contact Peni Kehoe and amend your pledge at any time.

Our WiredWORD class meets in the Gathering Room which is on the upper floor, through the Fireplace Room and near the restrooms. This room is sometimes referred to as "the old choir room" or "the old sanctuary" by long-time members. This class explores current events and discusses how our faith intersects and informs our response.

Our Foundations Sunday School meets in the Adult Classroom which is on lower floor classroom wing at the end of the hall way on the left. This class explores the lectionary scriptures each week, taught by a rotation of teachers.

Youth Sunday School meets in the Youth Classroom which is on the lower floor classroom wing. It is the first classroom on the left, past the restrooms. The class explores the lectionary scriptures each week, often as they relate to the weekly sermon.

Children's Sunday School meets in the Children's Classroom which is the second door on the right of the lower floor classroom wing. Children learn about God's love through the bible, play, and song.

Neeley’s Notions is an email offering that gives Neeley the chance to start a conversation about the inspirations and influences she thinks about while writing her weekly sermon. The email will be sent on Friday mornings when the Spirit leads, and you can reply to the email with your thoughts and stories for Neeley to read.
