Does your child usually only do level 1? See if they can reach their grade level goal this month (3rd graders do Level 3, etc). If they usually shoot for their grade level, see if they can do all 5 levels!

Ethiopia is the Special Itinerary country this month. Complete the worksheet for a special prize!

Volunteers are necessary to keep this program running. We only ask for your help one day a month. Please put it in your calendar and join us in the STEAM room. We would love to have you!

PTA Member Happy Hour

Calling all 21+ PTA Members! Please join us for Happy Hour at the Bellevue Melting Pot on April 1s from 5:30pm to 7:00pm! Share your trials and victories so far this year and bond with your fellow parents and volunteers. We will be especially celebrating our Big Give donors, but all adult PTA members are welcome to come and join the party. STEM Fair Update

STEM Fair is about a month away, on April 24th, 2024. Have you registered for the STEM fair yet? Do you need a tri-fold? Let us know, we have tri-folds for you if you need them!

Registration will lock down on April 5th, 2024. Make sure you register your project so we can get everything ready for the STEM Fair!

Need help with the STEM Fair?

Bellevue High School's Science Olympiad offers a service called Tutor Time, held each Saturday at various KCLS libraries. Drop into one of their sessions or email them (tutortime.bhs@gmail.com) if you would like help with your STEM fair project! They host free drop-in tutoring for grades K-12 in any subject, and they have tutors knowledgeable in STEM to help you with all aspects of your project. Sign-up for Amity Intern Performances and Flag Procession in the International Arts Festival

It's time already to prepare for the International Arts Festival, happening this year on Wednesday, May 22, 5:00-8:00 pm!

Students can sign up to rehearse and perform a dance taught by our amity interns, Andrés (Colombia), Josue and Karla (El Salvador,) or Jenny (Spain). Rehearsals will take place for 6 weeks on Wednesdays after school, 1:30-2:30pm, beginning March 27th. We also need parent volunteers to chaperone the Amity Intern rehearsals.

Students are also invited to be part of the flag procession at the International Arts Festival that represents the many cultures and heritages of our community.

5th Grade News: March/April Updates

• 5th grade virtual meeting - April 16th from 7-8pm where we will vote on legacy gift suggestions and finalize 5th grade graduation party. Join Zoom Meeting.
• Fundraising - We are hoping to raise more money towards graduation and the legacy gift (this is a gift the 5th grade class gives to the school). We are hoping for just 2 more fundraisers this spring to meet our budget.
• STEM Fair Bake Sale - April 24th volunteer hours between 4-8:30pm. Sign up to volunteer here.

April Kindness Week

Plan ahead for Spirit Week! The first week of April we will be celebrating Kindness.

School Food Share Program is Back!

Do you like the idea of less food waste and want to do an easy, quick job for the school once a week?

Before covid, our students saved unopened milk and uneaten fruit from the garbage at lunchtime. We are so thrilled that this program is back at Puesta del Sol! The program is called School Food Share, and our school was one of the very first in the district to participate many years ago. We began a soft launch in January with a donated fridge from two awesome grandparent volunteers, and Sra. Rosario collecting the unopened milk boxes.

We are looking for a few people to take turns picking up unused lunch food and delivering it to Hopelink once a week. Help us bring back this waste reducing, food sharing, awesome program to Puesta del Sol! Care Solace is a central hub that connects students, staff and their families to care. At no cost to you, Care Solace will quickly and confidentially find available mental health and substance use providers matched to your needs.

Care Solace helps school districts provide care coordination for every student, staff member, and family member in need. The Care Solace team is always available — including nights, weekends, and holidays — in 200+ languages.
