LIC Lights Up


Mon., Dec. 2, 4:30-6:30 p.m. - The LIC BID, Hunters Point Community Development Corporation, and The Chocolate Factory Theater welcome you to Vernon Mall to celebrate the return of holiday lighting in LIC. Join your neighbors for a festive evening featuring caroling, hot chocolate, and a visit from Santa.


Bring a toy or clothing item to donate to children living in homeless and/or domestic violence shelters, in partnership with The Floating Hospital.


The event is free and open to the public. Bring the entire family. Details

Holiday Drives


Through Mon., Dec. 2 - NAICA hosts an annual holiday toy drive to bring joy to children in need at the family sanctuary site on Queens Boulevard. Details


Tues., Dec. 3, 7-9 p.m. - Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens presents a "Toys for 'Tinis" holiday toy drive at SkyBar, bring a new toy or donate $15 to receive a free martini. Details


Through Thurs., Dec. 5 - Donate new toys, books, gift cards, coast & winter gear, socks, sleepwear, and slippers to The Floating Hospital's candy cane lane holiday drive. Details


Through Tues., Dec. 10 - New York Irish Center is collecting food drive donations for Hour Children, an LIC nonprofit supporting incarcerated women and their children. Details


Through Tues., Dec. 31 - Brown Harris Stevens presents a holiday coat drive, accepting coats weekly Monday to Friday 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. at 47-12 Vernon Blvd.

Planned Weekend Service Changes to the 7 Line


There will be no 7 train service between Queensboro Plaza and 34 St-Hudson Yards Nov. 30-Dec. 2, Sat. 12:15 a.m.-Mon. 5:00 a.m. Travel alternatives for service between Queens and Manhattan will be available on the EFNR lines and shuttle buses. Details

Congestion Relief Zone Tolling Webinars


The MTA is hosting eight public webinars during the first three weeks of December where people can learn about Congestion Relief Zone tolling. The 60-minute webinars will explain how the Congestion Relief Zone works, how the program benefits the region, discounts and exemptions, and what people need to know before tolling begins on Sun., Jan. 5. The sessions will also feature a Q&A. There will be one public webinar with a focus on the Individual Disability Exemption Plan (IDEP) and another on the Low-Income Discount Plan (LIDP). Details
