CENTRAL GULF COAST
CONNECTION
Don't Miss TEAM DAY August 12!
A Word From Pastor Ryan
As Jamie and I continue to travel across the Central Gulf Coast District we continue to see the Lord at work in your churches and communities. We are so grateful to be able to serve alongside you.

It has been a great privilege to be able to get to know each of you and build relationships. We have already had the opportunity to worship with many of you and if we haven’t you are already scheduled, and we’ll see you soon. We consider it a great joy to worship Jesus with you.

Our District Ministry Team Retreat was a great time of fellowship, fun, and worship. We will be getting the dates for next year as soon as possible so you can make plans and mark your calendars.

Churches in Transition:
Please continue to be in prayer for Mobile Parkview and Ridgeville as we seek the Lord’s guidance for the right pastoral fit.

Pastoral Christmas Sponsorship
Several of our congregations give money at Christmas time for the Pastoral Christmas Assistance fund. This is a blessing to pastors in need during the Christmas season. If your church desires to contribute this year, please send assistance to the District Resource Center as early as possible. This ensures the assistance may be given to pastors in early December. Please make checks payable to CGC District, earmarked Pastoral Christmas Assistance. Thank you.
Zoom Leadership Training
Leadership Training via Zoom is coming during the first quarter of 2024.

Children's Bible Quizzing
Children’s Bible Quizzing is alive and well!

Two quiz meets have already been completed with a total of 16 quizzers from across the district. We have quiz teams from Columbiana, East Brewton, Montgomery Capital City, and Praise Park. There have been three perfect scores in the first two quiz meets, with one quizzer, Audrey Lee, having a perfect score of 40 in both quizzes. Her sister, Maddie Lee, has the other perfect score. Both quizzers are from Praise Park.

There are two more quiz meets before the District Quiz Meet. The next quiz meet is on January 13 at 10:00 am at Montgomery Capital City and will cover Dig Sites 11-15. The last regular quiz meet will be on February 17 at 10:00 am at East Brewton and will cover Dig Sites 16-20. This quiz meet will be conducted as part of Heavenly Star Search. The District Quiz Meet will be on March 16 at 10:00 am at Montgomery Capital City.

To participate in the District Quiz Meet, a quizzer will be required to participate in at least one of the four regular quiz meets. The District Quiz Meet will cover Dig Sites 1-20 and will determine the teams for the Regional Quiz Meet in Atlanta on April 26-27. There will also be a Bible Memory Verse Competition.

It is not too late to participate in Children’s Bible Quizzing. Please contact Pastor Bill Hamby at 205-294-9839 or at bill.hamby@hotmail.com, if you are interested in competing this year. The registration fee is $10 per quizzer for the year.

CUBA 2024 - Work and Witness
Cuba, here we come!

The Central Gulf Coast District has a team of 18 going to Cuba in February 2024. While there, we will be aiding the Catalina De Guines church. This church needs a new building, as their current building was built in 1948. During the construction, they will need a place to worship, so we will be adding on to the home of a church member to accommodate a place for worship.

Please pray for our team's safe travel, and safety while we are working. Pray for the brethren we will interact with and pray for the pastor. May we be an encouragement and blessing to them, and let them know that people are praying for them and their church.

If you would like to be a part of this team financially, send your money to Diane Thompson, NMI President, or Reba Hanson, NMI Treasurer, and your church will receive 10% world evangelism credit.
How to be a Missions Priority One Church
It is the desire of the CGC NMI Council that all district churches strive to become a Mission Priority One Church. With only a few months left in this fiscal year, please use this guide to make sure your church is on track.

YouthQuake 2023 - NMI and NYI Praise Report
Thanks be to God for his amazing presence during the CGC First Annual YouthQuake which was held during Veteran’s Day weekend at Camp Baldwin. 53 teens from 13 churches participated in this God-ordained event.

The altar was filled each night with teens seeking and praying for themselves and their friends. Two teens gave their hearts to God and were saved, others gave their absolute YES to God. We worshipped, we served the community with Habitat for Humanity, and we enjoyed time having fun while cultivating friendships with teens/adults across the CGC district.

Our thanks to Revs. Jake and Tyler Hill, former missionaries, who challenged the group to give their “eternal yes” to God. A special thank you to our teens who came with hearts ready to hear from God, to serve others and respond to God’s message.

Special thanks to the youth workers who volunteered their time, and to the churches and individuals who supported our youth with funds and scholarships. Because of your support, our youth and churches were able to meet our goal of raising $2,800 for our Mission Project Offering to provide monies for a motorcycle for an Ethiopian District Superintendent!

Youth Quake would have been impossible without the vision and efforts of Diane Thompson and the CGC District NMI leadership team, Rev. Susan Sawyer, Rev. Angela Stephens and the CGC District NYI leadership team, John Sawyer, Revs. Jake and Tyler Hill, and every local church leader who encouraged our teens to attend.

The Becoming Conference
The Calling Cooperative at Trevecca Nazarene University is providing a week-long residential experience that combines vocational training with individual and corporate worship, biblical instruction, service learning and fun - all designed to assist students in discovering their call to vocational ministry.

There will be two tracks - YES and Mission Nashville:

YES track is designed for those students who are interested in further discovery concerning vocational, pastoral ministry. Do you sense God is calling you to be a pastor? A missionary? Youth, Children or Worship Pastor? This is the track for you. YES Application is due by May 3 to cshepperd@trevecca.edu

Mission Nashville track is designed for students who may want to study fields outside of church ministry, but are just as interested in growing as disciples of Jesus. This track utilizes services and exploration as ways to discover how God might use their gifts to make a difference in the world.
