In February, we’ll be celebrating 10 years of working to stop new fossil fuel projects, forcing existing fossil fuel generators to transition to storage and renewables and promoting equitable clean energy and efficiency.

The first success of our Put Peakers in the Past campaign is a doozie! When approaching the owners of “peaker” power plants - the oldest, dirtiest power plants in the state - we challenged them to transition to battery storage and renewables. Cogentrix, owner of three Massachusetts peakers not only took up the challenge and worked with us to close two plants and transition one to clean energy, but is also working on doing the same with over 20 other plants they own across the eastern half of the US.

And we’re just getting started, now working with a coalition we helped build to take on others across the state.

No Fracked Gas in Mass brings you a monthly news roundup, newsletters on how you can take action, and our website with information to explain it all.

Please help us continue our work this #GivingTuesday. Donate today!

Pittsfield: Special Hearing on Electric Rates

Friday, December 1, 2023

There is often a feeling that we are left out of the decision-making process in the Berkshires. But this week, we're making sure that our voices are heard equally at a special hearing in Pittsfield and you're invited.

With the cold weather months upon us, residents throughout Massachusetts will likely be holding their breath as they open their utility bills.

As gas and electric rates typically surge higher in Western Massachusetts than they do in any other part of the state, the Senate members of the Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy are holding a special oversight hearing:

Friday, December 1 at 10:30 a.m.

Berkshire Innovation Center in Pittsfield

I am grateful to Senator Michael Barrett and my colleagues on the Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy for agreeing to hold this important oversight hearing in Pittsfield so that our unique needs can get the recognition and attention they deserve.
