Track your Child on the Bus

MMSD has a way for families to keep tabs on their students’ transportation: the FirstView app, from First Student.

FirstView provides location data via GPS tracking, and sends notification alerts when a student’s bus is getting close. It can be used to track all of the students in a household/associated with a caregiver account. It’s the easiest and fastest way to get answers to questions like, “When will the bus show up?” and “How can I see when my child will be picked up or dropped off?”

New Kindergartener Information Meeting

Our Kindergarten team will have an informational meeting on May 21st from 5-6pm in the Franklin Library for caregivers.

We will have childcare available during the presentation. Caregivers will have a whole group overview, and then will break off into small groups to receive a tour with school staff and learn about Kindergarten at Franklin!

This event is geared towards adult learning about the upcoming school year and an opportunity to meet Franklin staff.

End of the School Year Ice Cream Social

You’re invited! The Franklin-Randall Parent Empowerment Groups and PTO cordially invite you to our end of the school year Ice Cream Sandwich Social.

What: A Celebration of Franklin-Randall Community

When: Thursday May 23rd 5:30-7:00pm

Kindergarten Playdates

We are looking for two people with kindergarteners starting in 2024 Fall to help host the summer kindergarten playdates. The playdate coordinators will pick 3-4 dates in August to host kindergarten families on the Franklin playground to meet each other and tour the school. The PTO will attend as well to support. If you are interested, please email Ashley Russell (ashleyarussell@gmail.com). This is a fun and easy way to be involved in our school community and we need volunteer hosts to make it happen.

Online enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year

The Online Enrollment Application will open for families on August 5, 2024. MMSD is supporting existing and new families of elementary, middle, and high school students to complete the enrollment process 100% virtual.

You must enroll each child every year. This is when you review student information, update contact information and pay fees.

Enrollment is 100% online. We will send additional reminders during the summer months.

Franklin Playground

We want to highlight the Franklin playground project we’re working on. The playground has recently received improvements like the 4K play area, additional shade, and a storage shed. However, there are larger issues that we’re working with Franklin to address like poor stormwater drainage, the need for more accessible play equipment, and lack of vegetation. The foremost issue is the drainage of the large paved surface. Puddles form and freeze during the fall and spring, making the surface slippery for students during recess.

We have a vision for a comprehensive renovation of the Franklin playground that addresses all these issues so students have an engaging and safe place to play. The PTO has funds set aside to assist Franklin and Randall with projects like this that are not fully covered by the school district’s facilities budget. However, a comprehensive renovation of Franklin’s playground requires substantially more money to fully address.

If you have experience raising money for capital projects and want to help, please get in touch with PTO board member Kemper Smith at kempersmith@mac.com
