Allen Elementary School TK Students Take Care of Baby Chicks

Allen Elementary School TK students recently embarked on an extraordinary journey into the life cycle of chicks, thanks to a partnership with Wagon Train! They provided students with an incubator full of eggs, giving them the incredible opportunity to watch the baby chicks hatch (Goal 1). Allen's TK scientists took on the responsibility of caring for the chicks after they hatched, learning valuable lessons in nurturing and life cycles. The adventure didn't stop there - each chick has now found a loving forever home with our amazing Allen families (Goal 2).

Allen Elementary School also recently hosted its Open House and students proudly shared their schoolwork with families. Allen has outstanding teachers and staff as well as a top-notch Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program! Kudos to the Allen team for all they do to equip ALL students with the academic skills (#GGUSDGoal1) and personal skills (#GGUSDGoal2) for lifelong success (Goal 3)

Murdy Elementary School Students Showcase the Gratitude Project

Murdy Elementary School's Gratitude Project wrapped up this week with the students and special guests coming together to reflect on the experiences shared and learned during the months long lesson. One of the final assignments the students complete is an interview with a loved one, which they share to those in attendance. The students expressed how the interviews helped them learn to appreciate the sacrifices that their parents and loved ones make for them in order to live better lives.

Students also created artwork based on the experiences shared by special guest speakers, which were then presented to each special guest. This year, the students heard experiences from Vietnam War veterans: U.S. Navy Seal Andy McTigue, U.S. Army Medical Specialist Robert Casillas, and father of Principal Dr. Michelle Luong Hong Thanh Nguyen who served in the Republic of Vietnam Navy - Legion 30. They also heard experiences from Dr. Luong's mother Kathy Hien Le and Assistant Principal Thao To's mother Dung Thi Ngoc Nguyen.

The Gratitude Project, led by Murdy teachers Valerie Del Carlo and Mark Keller, is the perfect example of GGUSD's Goal 2: Personal Skills in action!
