SEMA FOUNDATION INVITES DAYSPRING MEMBERS TO RAMADAN DINNER

The Sema Foundation, who joined us for our recent “Sacred Earth: Common Ground” storytelling event, invites everyone to a joyful Iftar Ramadan Dinner on Saturday, March 23, at 6:30pm at their Chandler location. The event is free but requires an RSVP so they can plan accordingly. Please RSVP here to join in this traditional Turkish dinner following their dawn-to-sunset fast. The dinner will be held at the Sema Cultural Center, 325 N. Austin Drive in Chandler.

TOOTHBRUSH DRIVE

Our children are collecting toothbrushes to send along with the medical and dental mission trip to Tochimilzoco, Mexico. Now through Palm Sunday, we are collecting new, individually wrapped toothbrushes, floss, and travel sized toothpaste. Children can bring their donations to Sunday school and there are collection boxes in the narthex.

FAMILY PROMISE

We host Familu Promise, a temporary shelter for families seeking permanent housing, the week starting Sunday, March 31 (Easter!). Volunteers are needed to setup the bedrooms, cook, entertain, spend the night, chaperone, and tear down/reset the rooms for Sunday.

COLUMBARIUM SURVEY

We are exploring the idea of a Dayspring Columbarium. This project would help improve missions and ministry and enhance the beauty of our church, while accommodating the true, growing needs of our members. In addition, it will help grow greater emotional bonds between church and family. IF you are interested in this project or in learning more, please take the survey online by clicking the button below. Paper surveys will be available on Sunday morning.

FAMILY HOLY WEEK EVENT:

Children’s Ministry hosts a Family Holy Week event and dinner on Wednesday, March 27, from 5:30-7:00pm in Fellowship Hall. Starting with a pizza and salad dinner, activity stations begin at 5:30 and run continuously through 7:00, so come when you can. This is an ongoing event where kids get the opportunity to create and experience their way through Holy Week.

MAUNDY THURSDAY:

Our 6:00pm Taizé-style Maundy Thursday service marks the commemoration of the first communion and the washing of the feet. A quiet service, the music will feature our handbell choir and Alex Duke, cellist of our Quartet in Residence, the Burn City String Quartet, playing contemplative pieces by J.S. Bach and Saint-Saëns.

GOOD FRIDAY:

Labyrinth Walk Good Friday at Noon

What must we allow to happen in ourselves to make space for Christ to rise within us? Members are invited to contemplate this question while walking our labyrinth or using available handheld labyrinths. The labyrinth is open anytime our gates are open. Facilitators will be on hand Good Friday noon-1pm to give a brief introduction to the labyrinth and walk with or otherwise support members on their labyrinth journey.

Good Friday Service

At the solemn 6:00pm service on Good Friday, we will read the seven statements that Jesus made on the cross, often called The Seven Last Words. These are drawn from all four Gospels and form a kind of narrative. After each of the scripture readings, the Dayspring Celebration Chorale will sing a spiritual as a reflection on the passage.

EASTER SUNDAY:

Tempe: Join us on Easter morning, March 31, for festival celebrations with organ, brass and choir at 8:30 and 10:00 in Tempe.

Arcadia: Arcadia’s Easter celebration begins at 11:00am.
