Cosmetic Arts Salon offers services to the public

In ECC’s departments of Cosmetic Arts on the Tarboro campus and Barbering on its Rocky Mount campus, students provide professional-quality beauty and grooming services to the public in updated, state-of-the-art facilities – at a fraction of the cost you’re going to pay at the corner barbershop or the downtown salon. More than 100 students are currently enrolled in the college’s Cosmetic Arts and Barbering program, according to Carolyn Sherrill, program chair.

Students make therapy bands to aid seniors

Students in an ECC High School Equivalency Diploma class recently made therapy bands to benefit senior adults in the therapy and rehabilitation program at ECU Health. “I wanted my students to give back to the community, and they were excited to do it,” says Varnell Kinnin, College and Career Readiness instructor. Kinnin got the idea when she made a therapy band to use in her own rehab treatment. ECC personnel attend leadership summit

Edgecombe Community College instructors and staff attended a recent two-day leadership summit sponsored by the University of North Carolina Wilmington Community College Collaborative. The UNCW/3C Collaborative is a university-community college partnership initiative created to develop strong future leaders for North Carolina’s community colleges.
